So this might be a silly thing to ask but I was watching HIMYM and when I watched the "overcorrection" episode I couldn't help but wonder if it's a good thing or a bad thing.. could people help explain it more? I understand that it's a way of trying to "compensate" for whatever else happened in the past but in a relationship? Is it a bad thing? 2023.03.30 02:59 inkheiko Is it arrogant to say that my lowest goal is master?

Basically I've been chilling for a while, and for around 2 or 3 years I started to play in ranked seriously. I went from bronze 2 to plat 2 today, and I talked with someone about rank goals.
I said that I should have reached plat already on my placements this year but I did bad in one game that was free, and that going at the barely least Diamond 4 was more or some sort of formalities for me (I focus on learning with my Seraphine Midlane/support, and keep the amount of games I play a day low so I don't lose focus).
Then I said that eventually, my lowest objective I'm playing for is getting master. They told me that reaching master surely was not easy, and that I was a arrogant about it. However, I didn't say that it would be an easy goal, but it was the lowest goal I could set to myself.
It's not like I said Master is easy to reach or anything, but I believe that if I just play normally as I'm doing, I went from gold 1 to plat 2 very easily (still no lose streak), and I will naturally reach Diamond by the end of the year if I keep playing casually (and seriously) like I'm doing. And by the end of my lol experience, Master is the real goal that I will have to really push myself to get there, even if it is in a few months or years.
Soooo... I don't say I will easily reach master, but if I keep good mental composure and play seriously, that I keep improving and learning other things, In the end, I could at least reach master.
It's really hard to word my thoughts about this matter, but it's not that I said it's easy to get master, it will be hard, but I believe I can do it with a minimum of effort.

2023.03.30 02:58 Fresh_Wash365 Graduating College and Need Financial Advice

I'm graduating in May 2023 with an engineering degree and starting a good-paying engineering job in September. I have no student loans, fortunately, and have worked several jobs and engineering internships throughout college. However, due to some very large, unforeseen costs recently, I have gone through a lot of my cash and am concerned I won't have enough cash flow to pay bills until I start my job in September. My family is not in the picture, so I cannot ask my parents for help.
My monthly expenses are around $3000 (with $1500 being rent, $150 as my car loan payment, $400 as my car insurance, and the rest being misc. costs like groceries, gas, etc.). I cannot get a full-time job this summer due to another commitment. However, I have two freelance jobs that bring in about $500-$1000 a month. I can also reduce my discretionary spending a good bit which will help.
Basically, I currently have approx. $3,000 in savings/checking accounts, but also about $3,000 in credit card debt. I have around 6K in a Roth IRA, 7.5K in a regular brokerage account invested in index funds, and around $2500 directly in the stock market. This was all done in 2021, and while the market was up for a while afterward, right now it's down badly and so if I liquidate my investments, I'm actually losing from my original investment around 2-10% (depending on the account).
So option #1 that I have come up with is to sell my stock and brokerage account investments ($10k), which prevents me from taking on debt. But the downside is that I'm missing out on potential earnings in the long term.
Option #2 is to take out a private student loan for $10,000, which will likely have an interest rate of about 10-14%. I would plan to pay it off within the first year of working. I'm concerned about this option though because I was denied federal loans since my financial aid (slightly) exceeds my cost of attendance.
Option #3 is to run up the balance on my credit cards and then do a balance transfer (costs like 3-5% of the balance being transferred) to a 0% Introductory APR card. Before recent events, I was a pretty financially sound individual so I was doing some credit card hacking for cash-back rewards and travel points and had a high limit on several cards that I could use. However, I am terrified of credit card debt.
Basically, I'm not quite sure what option makes the most sense from a financial standpoint (I'm an engineer, not a finance person lol). I would appreciate any advice and explanation about what I should do! :)

I’ve been sick with a horrible cough going on 3 weeks and for a while it was holding steady but now it’s getting worse and I’m starting to feel the effects of not getting enough oxygen, especially at night. It’s not an emergency, but I think I need either antibiotics or maybe a breathing treatment or something. I no longer think it’s going to get better on it’s own and I’ve run through my only available cash buying OTC cough medicine/supplies (in hindsight I wish I’d just used it for the copay but I thought it was just a bad cold and I’d be better after a week tops)
Unnecessary backstory: I’ve been stuck in a financially abusive relationship for years and my “emergency fund” was $100 cash I got in an xmas card that I was able to stash away. I finally found a work from home job earlier this month but I haven’t gotten a paycheck yet and I only have $45 left. My copay for a regular office visit is $60, urgent care is $100, emergency $500. I can’t afford any of those, obviously. And then I’d have to pay for whatever they prescribe and our drug coverage is not great. At least antibiotics are cheap, I think?
I am miserable and starting to have serious health anxiety from these symptoms. What do I do? Is there somewhere I can go that won’t ask for payment right away?
To be clear, I’m not asking for medical advice. I know I need a doctor, I’m just not sure how to get one in my current financial situation.

2023.03.30 02:58 russiangn Please critique my build! Haven't built a PC in 15+ years

I was debating between an AM4, AM5, and LGA1700. Going with AM4. Please give feedback.
I added the links above to the AM5 and LGA builds in case you wanted to view. Some questions:
  1. Will the Ryzen 5700x and 6800 XT be bottlenecked? How can you tell? I tried to use the calculators online but they didn't make too much sense
  2. Can everything here be overclocked? I've never done it before but want the options
  3. Will I need to buy anything else to build this PC? Example: thermal paste, applicators, etc.
I plan on gaming and maybe some VR with this PC.
the big reason I'm going with the AM4 is that I don't plan on upgrading anything for 5+ years so by the time I might upgrade, AM5 will be out of style, too. Another reason is I'm a little worried about this PC giving off too much heat and the 7600X and 13600K are heaters. Might be a bad reason but IDK, I'm tired of the decisions!
If you happen to have a monitor recommendation for $300 that'll support Freesync and 1440p, feel free to please include it.

I’ve been hunting on and off for partner for some time now, and I’ve just been left all by my lonesome. So now, I’m trying my luck once again to see if I hit the jackpot.
In terms of my preferences/style of roleplay, I prefer to use 3rd person/past tense, because it’s what I’m most accustomed to. I typically try and base the length of my reply to that of my partner, and other times it can range from 2-3 paragraphs, depending on what’s going on in the story. I have a knack for anything that incorporates fantasy, sci-fi, cyberpunk, or even post-apocalyptic (I’m a massive TLOU fan). I also mainly roleplay on discord, and I’d prefer if you were 18 or older.
Now for what I’m looking for. I’ve been playing the cyberpunk 2077 game and recently went back and skimmed through the show, so that’s mainly what I’m on the hunt for. I also wouldn’t mind doing a post apocalyptic plot either. I have a bunch of character sheets sitting around and I feel bad that they don’t get much use, if any at all. And of course, if you have an idea for anything fantasy themed, I’d love to take part in that as well.

Trigger Warning: Mention of violence.
I'm 31 weeks and dealing with crazy insomnia while also working a very demanding job. My anxiety is also getting worse. I have generalized anxiety disorder and after having my now 3 year old daughter, I experienced severe post partum anxiety and even psychosis briefly. My OB has me starting Lexapro in a few weeks so that my mind/body is prepared for the post partum experience this time. I can't tell if it's because I'm so tired from the lack of sleep but I'm experiencing constant worry about my daughter, about my baby, about my husband, paranoid about work, etc. Wondering if anyone else has GAD and understands what this is like. It's so bad today that I don't want to leave my bed (also from being tired and insomnia) but I start stressing about if I go to work what if I get into a car accident tomorrow or the school I visit has a shooting? I start to wonder if my anxiety is intuition telling me not to leave the house. Its really awful 😔. I hope I don't sound crazy.

2023.03.30 02:56 Imnotnewtoredditloll Machine operator at Gatorade, bad bottles that I need to throw out causes juice to spill on my feet and I get swelling and burns.

I work at Gatorade making the drinks. My role at the warehouse is the filler, which where you fill the bottles with the juice in the machine. The machine is old and it haves many problems, but what the thing is that it has many underfills causing bad bottles that are “low fills” to get kicked out of the production line. Now when that happens I have to get them remove from the bin where they kick out and throw the drink to the floor. It’s too much that it cause injuries to my foot causing burns and swelling. The Gatorade drinks are just acid and with a lot of the juice going to my feet over the days it caused that. Now I had to buy “waterproof” shoes and I still get burns on the skin of my foot and swelling. They have not fix the problem and chance they will not. What should i do ?

Technically not a parent but his father is absent and our mother is less than useless. I'm nineteen if that matters at all.
My brother(eight years old) has been coming home from school with bruises, busted lips, marks on his face and his head. Stupidly, I assumed he just fell or something at first, but it seems to be a new one every day at this point. I talked to him about it, and he explained that these two other boys have been bullying him for a while now. They've stolen pokemon cards and toys from him, beat him, and made fun of him. He's talked to school officials but you know how schools are, they're completely useless.
It's honestly heartbreaking seeing him, and hearing him tell me about it. I really don't know what to do. I'd go down there and do something drastic if it wouldn't get me in trouble. Would it be a bad idea to tell him to fight back?

hi all. i’m about to be 4 months post op for revision rhinoplasty. i got a revision from my original surgeon bc i had build up of scar tissue and my nose got bigger and he suggested the revision. i had my revision in december and i had a post op appointment just two weeks ago and the doctor said my nose had gotten slightly bigger and gave me an injection. my nostrils are not the same. one side has more of a curve and it really bothers me as it looks wonky. head on, you can’t really tell that much but certain angles, it looks really bad. i’ve attached some photos here. i would really like to get some thoughts on this. would alarplasty help? the outside of my nostrils look the same as they did once i was one year post op primary as they do now. so i do not think it’s swelling at this point. i’m devastated

She's been been trying to muscle me out, on to the street. In an earlier almosthomeless post I implored bros in Ocala area to bail me of of this shit. But got no DMs, no rental offers.
First, I don't have a signed lease, only a verbal agreement. She seemed so sweet and honest I trusted her to rent with a handshake. Like honest people once did. I placed my life in her hands based entirely on my initial impression of her. Silly wabbit eh?
So turns out she's not a sweet, kind, caring, fair, honest person. She's schizophrenic, or has dementia, paranoia, psychosis, BPD, NPD, and or multiple personality disorder, or all of the above. She's a raging alcoholic, and drug addicted. Her best friend is a heroin user and her former Oxy supplier. He stayed here awhile, but was arrested. But may be released, and return, and will be wanting to take my living space, which I strongly suspect is her dirty plan, and why she is trying to run me off her property.
She picks fights daily, degrades and humiliates me. I try to ignore it while I search for better, safer, more stable housing. But I'm also not known for my patience with control freaks, bullies and tyrants.
If I snap I may also be arrested. Or extorted by her.
I stay in a cabin (storage shed really) with no running water. The bathroom, washing machine and freezer are all inside her home. Necessities one and all. Then, she locked me out of her house. Can't shower, shit piss or shave, or wash my clothes, or get at the food i bought in her freezer.
Gets worse if you have the time. I'm out in the boonies, with no car or public transportation. I'm 100% dependent on her for my survival. And I'm starting to feel like that dude in the Stephen King novel and movie titled; Misery
I feel cornered, caged and afraid of this psycho landlady. She's outright delusional and frequently makes false claims and accusations about me. Claimed I hurt her new puppy somehow. Gave the dog a limp. Things of that nature. It's absolute bullshit, pure fantasy, lies...
At first I stood my ground strong, as any man or abuse victim should in such cases. But she continued picking fights, bullying me, and I became rather submissive to cool things down. Mistake maybe, because she only ramped up her bullying when I backed down. Now I'm some beta punk bish she feels she can easily boss and bully around. Not a top alpha dog. Like her daddy was?
She claims to be an SA incest victim, but is this really true? Impossible to know with someone as dishonest and manipulative as she turned about to be.
Wow and I feel sad and sorry for her. Am I developing Stockholm syndrome?
The other night we walked her dogs together down the side of the road. I hoped to talk, and ease the friction. Instead she tells me she wants double the rent we agreed upon, and I should start packing my bags. Double rent, for no bathroom, shower, laundry bc I'm locked out?
Oh and then she called a tree trimming service. Friends of hers at it turns out. Dudes with chainsaws and a wood chipper grinding all day long outside my storage shed door. Scary shit man. If you're thinking Fargo, I was too. And the crew boss was a big muscular foreign dude with Salvadoran gang-like tats. He said he's know her a long time. I wanted to ask if he's here to dispose of my remains in a mulch pile on her farm. But instead I just shook his hand, and actually hugged him too. Like....Bro. Whatever she's paying you, ain't worth life on death row. And I'm really not a bad guy, if that's what she told you. Please put down the chainsaw and shut down the chipper.
