There is a new person at my work. I haven't met her yet, but I've seen her numerous times and although we work in the same building there really isn't much that goes on during the day to make our paths cross. Nevertheless, our paths have nearly crossed multiple times, and each time we've made eye contact. I've noticed at first that she will quickly look away once I look at her, but that's changed now. I didn't really think anything of anything until today. So today as I'm walking down the hallway toward the main office, she is walking out of it. We are still a bit of distance away, but we are the only two in the hallway. She looked at me as she was turning away from the direction I was walking, then she turned back around and looked at me and smiled while taking a few steps backward. I smiled back and kept walking toward the office which was also toward her, and she turned and kept walking back to her area. I continued about my business and got ready to go home. About 20 minutes later I'm in my car driving through the lot. As I'm driving down the lane she comes walking down and of course we notice each other again, and this time she waved and I waved back.

Bought our house in January of 2021. The lender we had bought the house with sold us to another servicer basically before the ink could dry on the house deed...which wasn't surprising. A couple months ago I lost my job, lost to addiction and lost my faith. In high school I lost the love of my life in a fire, then married at the age of nineteen to someone I had just met to fill the void. I am divorced now, alone and letting anger, sadness and resentment control me. I now have a part time job as a waitress at a local diner. Its a small room with a stove, sink and a tiny bathroom. My beds in the living room and my clothes are folded on the floor (my dresser). It was all I could afford at the time and now I can hardly keep up with the payments. I'll probably be stuck here all my life. I don’t have shy bladder. I know it sounds like I do but I really don’t. And every time I search for help I get NOTHING but stuff about how to treat shy bladder but I don’t have it! I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, so I know what it’s like to be anxious about something- I could care less if I take too long or if other people hear me pee. I have no issues peeing in school or public restrooms. I have no issues peeing in other’s homes. I even peed on a travel bus, for christ’s sake (albeit, it took me a little to do so)! I just cannot pee on airplanes, and now my travel life is jeopardized because before the pandemic I could pee just about anywhere. But the only place where I can’t use the bathroom is airplanes. Any advice? I fear it might be related to the movement of the airplane, but that’s something I can’t control. Is there any way I can practice without getting on tons of flights? Any help is appreciated.

Hi I am a 24f living with my 25m boyfriend. We’ve been together just over 3 years. I love him endlessly - he is the kindest most compassionate person I’ve ever met. He is thoughtful and honest and I cannot imagine a life without him. I do, however, have a horrible habit of blowing up when I’m upset and finding a way to turn things into a much bigger thing than they actually are. Over the last few months, for example, I’ve been dealing with some health stuff and it’s made me very depressed. I had some scans done and communicated my results to my boyfriend as he is out of town at the moment. I asked that he call me back when he had a chance and he didn’t which really pissed me off. I’m alone in a city that we are otherwise new to without many people close to me living in the area. I would’ve appreciated a call back so when I didn’t get one - I blew up. I told my boyfriend that he should thinking about whether or not he can give me what I need because I can’t keep planning for a future with someone who doesn’t know whether they want me in theirs. A very irrational response - I know. We talked and he said he is taking my message seriously and thinking about what I said. I asked if he considered breaking up and he said yes. I said well I love you a lot and I want to make this work if you want to. He said he loves me too but that he can’t have this conversation over the phone and wants to talk when he gets home. I had mentioned in passing a few months ago that should we ever break up, I’d hate if it were on the phone. Now, I’m reading into his unwillingness to talk on the phone as an indication that we will break up. Am I spiraling or should I be bracing myself for a big break up? Or - is there anything I can do to reconcile this? Imaging a life without him is gut wrenching and I know what I need to do to better regulate my responses/emotions. I’ve been dealing with some pretty painful piles for close to two months now, whenever I contact my GP the prescribed me either a cream or suppository which don’t tend to help and get told after 3 months they’ll refer me to a specialist.
I’ve tried every pretty much every at home remedy that I can possible think of but nothing seems to help.
I’m getting married this coming Monday and I’m petrified my wedding is going to be ruined by me being in pain during the ceremony.
Looking for any advice to potentially avoid that if you guys can help.

I remembered this animated movie made by just one guy. I think it took him about 10 years to make. If I'm not wrong, the movie opens up with the main protag at his office job and aliens start attacking earth. He goes home to protect his wife and two kids, a boy and a girl. It turns out that the protag is from another planet and is looking for him, not too sure about this part. Also the movie name is one worded and it's a long word. I can't for the life of me remember it. I really loved that movie and i want to watch it again.

Basically brand new to the sport, haven’t played since youth soccer over a decade ago. Just picked up some new cleats to play and practice with outdoors but once in a while I’ll be playing both on turf fiefs and on an indoor court at my local Y where I can’t wear them. (Side note, as an ignorant former American football player I’m curious, why can’t you wear cleats on turf in football/soccer when I’ve worn cleats in the past on the same turf fields?)
I’ve already ruled out getting turf shoes for now since it’ll be rare that I’d actually use them at the moment. I had thought the same for indoor shoes but I do try to work on my juggling & overall ball control at home whenever I can so I’m reconsidering now.
So my question would it be beneficial in my scenario to get the indoor shoes at this point just for at home practice & the very occasional indoor court game/practice? Or is the difference in feel between them & my normal running shoes in comparison to my new cleats negligible? And if it is, what specifically should I look for in a pair?

The youngest of all ten children is my step daughter. When my wife died she was, unfortunately, forced to go live with him. Don't get me wrong, this isn't the story of the late wife's ex husband is a nasty baddie, he stood up and did the job, he needs a round of applause. Yay bio dad! The whole thing after she passed probably scared him to death but he's been doing it. So 5 stars.
The youngest is getting ready for Prom she had opted to "go alone". After school everyday she is at my house until she can get picked up. He took her dress shopping and she was was showing me the pictures today of the dress she had picked out. She was beautiful in it.
Then my heart dropped. "Grandma is hiring someone to do my hair".
My wife was a hairstylist. I worked hard to keep the conversion focused on her. "Your mother would of pampered you". A smile on her face and a smile on mine but inside I needed to go cry this out.
This is one of the problems working nights. Kids get home from school and if anything happens they tell you about coming home you'll be in bed four to six hours later to download it as you sleep and begin anew. That's not the case for me. It's currently 6pm my time and I won't be laying down until 9am tomorrow.
Sometimes I get mad at that woman for leaving us. I don't know how many times I've said, "This is your job".

Her disease was preventable. It took a long time for me to acknowledge that. Which makes me madder.
She was suppose to be here to do her hair. Darn that woman for forcing us to live without her. Especially the daughter. She has her level of understanding what she is missing out. I watched nine children before her. I know exactly what she is missing. Every encouraging detail she was suppose to say. Every piece of detail of a dress and lady mannerisms that only a woman can say.
All this emotion over a picture of a dress.
I'm mad enough to cuss. I won't. I'm still going to say darn that woman. We all loved her so much. I just wish she loved herself enough to not let her mental disease kill her.

I wanted to post an update yesterday but some more stuff happened as I was writing so I decided to wait. I will also give them names for the sake of being concise. My fiance Kai, and my sister Jen. Here is the original post. Thank you everyone for your input on that!
I spoke to Kai and he showed me his call history and the messages between him and Jen. The last time they had a call was on my birthday last year. Their texts are few and far apart. The most recent ones were them talking about The Last Of Us. After we saw that she had lied to me, we called my parents and his. Both families expressed that they were a little disappointed that there wouldn’t be a wedding but were happy that we were going to be able to celebrate alongside us, they also hadn’t spoken to Jen about this.
I tried to contact her that same night but she wouldn’t answer my calls or texts. On Monday, she called me back and asked if we could talk. So we did and I asked what some of the comments on my original post asked, if the issue was that she had feelings for Kai.
She told me that they had dated in the past but she had no feelings left for him. She showed me pictures of them at a few concerts and football games from the university they went to. All of them had the two in frame together but never close. Kai was either leaning into frame or next to his best friend.
Kai came home as she was showing me pictures and asked if we were able to talk it out. I mentioned what Jen said and my fiance looked about as confused as I was. Kai denied it and said that he did have a few girlfriends during college but none of them were Jen. I believe Kai, especially because I remember seeing one of his girlfriends through my window before we had ever met (I usually stayed in my room when there was company).
Jen said that she had put up with his cheating because she loved him but now that it involved me he had gone too far. She asked me to go with her but I refused. So, she left but not before calling Kai a pathological liar and me an idiot for believing him.
Last night as I was writing that little update, she came knocking on our door very wasted. She started crying and telling me what a horrible sister I was for stealing her man. Then, she berated Kai, asking how he could choose me over her.
Kai sat her down and apologized if he ever led her on by being around so much. He told her that the only reason he came to our house so often was to get closer to me after we first met (even I didn’t know that part). She slept on the couch but was gone when I woke up. I’ve reached out but she hasn’t answered me.
We’re getting married next week and I honestly don’t even know if I want my sister at our reception. I’m scared she might make a scene. That is, of course, assuming she even comes at all. I’m disappointed. I had always thought my sister would be there for all of the big moments in my life. I’m thinking I’ll still ask her to be there and whatever happens happens.

We had several City Council meetings in March, including the start of our budget work sessions. Below is a summary of noteworthy actions:

1. We approved funding for a non-sworn social work supervisor and three additional social worker positions for the Raleigh Police Department ACORNS team. The ACORNS (Addressing Crises through Outreach, Referrals, Networking, and Service) team has been tasked to connect with individuals in crisis and provide them with the resources. The team utilizes a “care and safety first, enforcement last” approach.
   
2. We approved a rezoning request for the Char-Grill site downtown. The owners of Char-Grill sold the land for development and were in support of the rezoning request. The sale was intended to provide for the long-term financial stability of the company and their family. Char-Grill will remain on site, in operation throughout the permitting and planning phases of the new development, and when construction is finished, Char-Grill will be the first tenant in the new building. The rezoning also provided for the relocation of a historical house located on the property.
   
3. We had a work session discussion about the future of fare free transit in Raleigh, and other transit strategies. Raleigh buses have been far free since March 2020. Presently, the loss of fare revenue is being supplemented by COVID-related funds, but those funds will extinguish within the next year. During the work session, we learned that there are many benefits associated with fare free transit, including reducing barriers to transit use and increased ridership, decreasing disputes over fare collection, and enhanced operational efficiencies of the buses. We also learned about some challenges associated with fare free transit, specifically a high number of non-destination riders seeking shelter on the buses.
   

For me, the biggest take away from the staff presentation was learning that 82% of our transit users make less than $35k per year. Accessibility and equity is the biggest benefit of transit remaining fare free. Over the next few months, I look forward to working with my colleagues on City Council and staff on a plan for moving forward that, I hope, will keep our buses fare free, while also addressing any funding gaps, increasing service, and addressing some rider and transit operator safety issues. 1. We received an update on our zoning changes to allow different types of housing in more places. In 2021 and 2022, the City Council took some big strides to eliminate exclusionary zoning laws and to allow ADUs (accessory dwelling units) citywide, and to allow construction of -plexes, tiny homes, and townhouses in more places in the city. These changes are in line with national trends, including guidance from the Democratic President, Joe Biden. In fact, the Biden administration is awarding grants to cities and towns who make these changes. However, like any change, there have been some members of the community who are upset or confused, so staff initiated a series of informative meeting which took place across the city (and virtually) the past several months. My big takeaways were, nearly everyone in the city agrees housing affordability is a major issue, if not the major issue, we just don't all agree on how to fix it. And most of the residents who provided feedback are older, white homeowners; 80% of respondents were over the age of 45, while 60% of our city is under the age of 45; 80% of the respondents were homeowners, while 48% of the residents in our city are non-homeowners.
We need to be hearing from more voices and lived experiences on these issues. Most of the people we hear from already have theirs; these decisions impact those trying to settle down, own a home, or find somewhere to live. It's about the future of Raleigh. Please join the conversation.

1. We received an update on Bus Rapid Transit. Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is essentially "light rail on wheels." The buses are specialized, connected vehicles which run in mostly dedicated lanes, with enhanced, elevated stations, and signal priority. In 2016, voters approved the Wake County Transit Plan which calls for construction of 4 BRT routes, radiating from downtown Raleigh. The New Bern Avenue (east) route is scheduled to begin construction this year. The Southern route to Garner just received a supportive rating from the federal government and is recommended for funding in the president's FY24 budget. The Western route to downtown Cary is in the early planning stages, and will have stops at Dix Park, NC State, Fenton, and the WakeMed Soccer Park. The Northern route will run to either midtown or Triangle Town Center, or both; that route is still being studied and construction is scheduled for completion last.

Our next City Council meetings are Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dreamville Music Festival is this weekend, and there will be several free, associated events downtown. It'll be a great weekend and get out and have some fun. I hope to see you around. https://dreamvillefest.com/home/
