2023.06.03 13:16 vivaladisney 31M - I'm lonely and I need a friend [friendship]
Oh, hi, I almost didn't see you there. so, as much as I might try to hide it, I'm a human just like the rest of us. I think that humans need some level of social interaction. I am usually fairly content doing things on my own, but I need to be honest with myself and admit that I am missing something. I am lonely. I would really like to have a friend, someone that I can connect to, have a real human connection with. even though I have always kind of been more on the side of being a loner, I do like talking. with the right person, that is. and I'm hoping to find the right person. because when I am talking to the right person, I love it. I love just chatting about any random thing that pops into our head.
a bit about me, I'm a 31-year-old guy from california, I'm single, and only because I think that it's somewhat relevant, I have OCD. no need to dwell on that, though.
I'm pretty bad at talking about myself unprompted, I prefer to have a back and forth with someone as a way of getting to know each other. I love questions, I think that asking each other questions is a great way to get to know the person you're talking to, and I also just think it's really entertaining.
but okay, how about some things that I'm interested in;
ā¢movies. this is a big one. I really love film, and I'll watch any type. I basically want to watch and know about as much as I can when it comes to movies. from the most highbrow art film, to the trashiest horror movie, I'll watch it all, and I love it. see anything good lately? I want to hear about it.
ā¢magic. as in, you know, like, tricks. I've been doing it my whole life, and I don't care how nerdy it is, I find it really interesting and fun.
ā¢reading. all kinds of different things. I like nonfiction, especially digging through articles of weird events from history and stuff like that. but I also like short stories. I think that mysteries and detective stories are really cool. I do enjoy novels as well, but I just don't read as many of them as I would like. read anything good lately? let's hear about it.
ā¢I told you I was bad at talking about myself, so I can't think of another thing to mention off the top of my head. I guess if you're curious you'll just have to message me and you can find out.
as for what I'm looking for, I'm pretty open. some things that I would request of the person I would talk to though, would be that you are over the age of 18 (okay, this one is less of a request, and more like I won't reply if you aren't), although aside from that I don't really care too much about age, that you're open-minded, and I would also say that, although it's not as if I'm specifically looking for anything like this, I would request that if you aren't single, that you can at least be sure that whatever your relationship situation is, if we talk it won't be anyone's back. I'm not comfortable with that. oh, I will also say that if you are the type of person who is prone to ghosting people, I'd request that you not reach out, because I have just had enough of those experiences and it's kind of a pet peeve of mine. I'm not saying that I expect long involved conversations with every single person that I interact with, but if we do get in touch and you decide that you aren't really feeling it and would rather not keep it going, then one simple, short message letting me know that would go a long way. so apart from those things, there's not really much else. I really am open to talking to just about anyone.
so, as I said, if you're curious, or looking for someone to talk to, feel free to message me.

2023.06.03 13:07 valkuznet A 2-year story of BOOP vs MYTH
Greetings all,
I rarely visit Reddit, but I felt that I should write something to conclude this for myself, too.
MYTH and BOOP mutual grudge started around 2 years ago when MYTH moved in into the fountain and started to dictate what Boop can do and whatnot. This is eve, MYTH had its plans for Fountain, and BOOP had its own. The ongoing conflict caused a lot of pain to our players, all this kind of mocking, bullying, endless logoff camps, and other unpleasant things. MYTH took 2 constellations from BOOP at our lowest, so in short, the conflict was far beyond peaceful resolution for so many players. Even a player who was mobilized to the frontline IRL, the first question after his almost half a year silence, was: "What's up guys? Have you kicked MYTH butt yet?". Eve is truly an amazing game, that can spark so many emotions.
Time went by, MYTH was growing, BOOP was staying relatively stable but slowly declining. Some people were naturally leaving the game, and a dozen of players were mobilized IRL. Some of them were our key people, which we relied a lot. Then, NODS Corp got broken. Their CEO had to leave Mariupol with his pregnant wife, lost everything, and had to live in basements and eat snow for a couple of weeks (they're okay now, fortunately). We've formed an "HRT" corp to take good care of their players, but it hurt our in-game defences. Our core constellation became weaker. Some people might say, "Why do you mix IRL and game", but well, for a CEO there is always a bigger picture to look at.
Time went by, the alliance stabilized, many people returned to the game, it became easier to ignore IRL, and people started having a lot of fun in the game again. Cheers to Belthor btw, probably the one person in MYTH I truly respect, he reached out to us and tried to support us. We remember this.
Next, anti-SHH coalition came. We were a little bit concerned that as soon as we join the war, MYTH and RETC will attack us (that exactly happened, lol - on the very second day MYTH/RETC started reinforcing everything we had, and that lasted for weeks. I think, RETC tricked MYTH that we attacked them, in fact, a provocation from Matarella - he was the one moving alt to RETC and reinforcing BOOP structures with RETC fleet on the first day. But I don't know for sure.).
One part of joining CC and for me, and no-lifeing its a couple of months was Tahini. I did "FC" -ing for years in other games, I've been leading an e-sports team, so I've had some experience how to lead. But what I lacked, was a concrete eve battle experience. I am not a EO veteran. We had some ideas, but no proof that it works. We've hit the sweet spot. BOOP/YES doctrine turned out to be the best one on the server. It somehow worked so well.
Our logic flew 2600+, our battleships could tank 140K+ DPS, the doctrine was fucking perfect, and our people did exactly what we wanted from them. Probably, it turned out to be the best doctrine on the server, at that time. Silent couldn't make their Maelstroms work and ditched them. We managed to do it.
I think Silent had a very hard time dealing with RU specifically in our prime in those first months. Too bad Tahini left CC so early, but I think I've got what I wanted, except the cap experience. I FC'ed more than 100+ RU CTAs in the first couple of months. It was 1-3 CTAs every day, some of them at night. BOOP/YES fit together so perfectly. So thanks for bringing us together.
MYTH was a huge nuisance. Our constellations were unlivable. They've made 50+ hull timers every week, killing a pos here and there. But we still kept all our capital ships and fleets in the North. We spaced with poses/citadels as much as we can, we did force MYTH to fight in the opposite timezone, and we did ask TSC to defend us, in return for this defence we promised TSC not to hit MYTH and not to bring our fleets back home for that, keeping them North.
When Silent blew up their sov, we realized. This is the time. Our hands are free. We don't have to keep our fleets in the North anymore. CC doesn't need us anymore.
Hero suggested a regroup in Querious. Fountain is an awesome place that we loved, but in the end, it was the beginning of something new. It was time to move on. The only thing that was keeping us in Fountain, is the desire to take our sweet revenge. I swear, in a little bit more peaceful and respectful environment, MYTH could have simply bought all our sov, and we would have sold it. But no, not leaving Fountain for free, this is a matter of principle now. Maximum pain mode. I am leaving it either a winner, or dead.
Then, careful planning started. We scouted all MYTH timers. We put spies in their chats, everywhere. We had scouted the jump gate network and all its structures. We polished fits on our subcap and caps. The silent war helped a lot with fleet coordination. Many people understood what I want to do and I don't even have to say it. I and Hero happened to work very well together. I covered for his weaknesses and he did that for me, I had strengths he didn't have and he provided me with things I didn't have. Plus both of us could no-life it if needed.
Then we attacked. First day. 19 timers. Second day. MYTH forms 87 battleships/50 BC and 15 caps. We have only 80% of those numbers, and we are already stretched. We are in the offence. We make a lot of hull timers, but MYTH defended a lot too. Much more than we expected they could defend, even provided their numbers. We didn't get O-PNSN. We were running out of time. 48 hours before the O-PNSN hull almost passed, and we couldn't put it in the hull.
We put their important jump gates and form-up location into the hull just 48 hours before the hull time. We had all their comms, all discords. On one of the CTAs, we listened to their cap FC ordering a warp-in, and we jumped right this second. We giggled a bit at stuck capitals but didn't gloat. You don't think this was a coincidence, do you? A few nanoseconds more and we would have gotten not only all their sub cap fleet but half of their cap fleet too. DAMN! We monitored all their pings and adjusted our pings accordingly. We aren't as crazy as Tahini to make a 24-hour op, but we did have our 7-hour op, too. I hope MYTH found the bubbled undock a pleasant experience.
The efficiency we could achieve was amazing. YES/BOOP is far away from being a pure-pvp alliance, but a lot of players learned how to play PVP. We wiped the fleet of 50+ battleships 4 or 5 times while losing 1-3 battleships each time. 1:50 efficiency? Holy shit. Our morale and resolve were so high. We are almost there. We can break it. 90 battleships and 15+ caps camping at the gate look scary, but we can do it.
And we did. A fucking huge alliance is on its knees now. Corps started reaching us. Their morale looks broken. They don't form even ceptors anymore, still having more than 15+ citadels. I felt a little bit sad, but I've overcome this feeling to finish it, and it felt like the end of a big journey.
Thanks for giving this fight. We appreciate MYTH forming this force and giving this fight. Even silent hasn't formed something like this in our prime. It did take careful months of collecting information, planning, polishing the doctrines, regrouping, and no-life FCing, to break this group in just 10 days with a smaller force, which is BOOP+YES. I always had an example of NO before my eyes, and I am glad we could execute it similarly. I think you've had the chance to stand your ground, but apparently, MYTH just didn't have this kind of inner glue keeping them together, in the end. RIP!
The only thing we couldn't manage is for our spy to set O-PNSN to a little bit better timer, but that 7-hour operation with caps was a killing blow that we enjoyed. Fountain conflict is concluded, and 2 years of stress are relieved. Breaking MYTH was an endgame for a lot of our players. I am glad we do not have to read MYTH CEO and general chats anymore, but we've had more than a few good giggles -- eve is such an awesome game, emotions like that are priceless!
I don't know what's next, but now I can officially say "The fountain conflict is concluded". Thanks for reading. See you on the grid. After I've had enough of other games (Do you play Diablo 4? :P)
Enjoy the movies.

2023.06.03 13:07 thestanzo Serious question
Is it worth it to play/try to platinum Birth By Sleep? I started it earlier after finishing KH2.5 but honestly the DS graphics are killing me lol so I wanted to try to get everyoneās opinion. I know itās supposed to be like the prequel that started it all but I kinda wish they wouldāve just made it into a movie like 358/2 or re:coded, hopefully nobody jumps down my throat to hard for bringing this upš but thanks for any opinions you guys may give

2023.06.03 13:06 red-0405 27 [M4F] GENUINE CONNECTION
Apologies for the frequency at which this post is appearing, as I have yet to find what I am searching for. I don't believe my standards are excessively high, but perhaps I simply don't have enough time to communicate and would rather arrange a meeting if we seem to be a good match. In any case, let me share my story.
Once upon a time, there was a tall, nerd, and not-much attractive guy
pero pwede na who woke up one morning, looked at the sky, and thought, "Well, this sucks." He knew there was only one solution - to turn to the all-knowing oracle of modern dating: T̶i̶n̶d̶e̶r̶ Reddit lol.
With his trusty cup of coffee in hand, he set out to find someone who shared his thirst for knowledge, someone who could keep up with his nerdy quirks, and someone who he could eventually take on 'friendly' dates (whatever that means). He wasn't in a rush to jump into anything too serious too soon, but he knew that someday, he wanted to find someone he could build a meaningful and caring relationship with.
So if you're a fellow lover of coffee, learning, and all things nerdy, this tall drink of water might just be the partner in crime you've been looking for. Dating at times feel like a job hunt doesn't it? So I thought itād be fun to write it in a mock format just like a resume! LOL
About me
An old soul as older people I spoke with would say, into business and investments, frustrated law student, can drive a fucking 10 wheeler truck (sarcasm towards people looking for someone with wheels), no ex issues or sabit, can provide a certificate of no relationship (kahit wala naman talagang ganon haha).
- I'm 5'10", medium built if that matters, resides in quezon city. I would say that I'm not that much attractive but would consider myself very hygienic.
- I'm an INTJ, Aries, if youāre into MBTI and believes in horoscope.
- Loves to read self-help books as I love to learn and motivate myself along the way.
- I'm the kind of person who doesn't follow the herd blindly, even if it means standing alone in a field of conformity. My principles are like a compass, always pointing me in the right direction, even if it's not the most popular route. In short, I'm not afraid to swim against the current, as long as it's in line with my beliefs.
- You could say that my communication style is like a triple-layered cake: serious, meaningful, and sprinkled with a healthy dose of humor. Sure, I may come off as awkward at times, but that's just my way of keeping things interesting. After all, who wants a bland and flavorless conversation when you can have a deliciously complex one? So, if you're looking for someone who can engage in a thoughtful discussion, crack a few jokes, and still leave you with something to ponder, then look no further.
- I'm what you might call a clean freak with a creative streak. As someone who's a bit OC (okay, maybe more than a bit), I can't stand to see a messy or cluttered home. But don't worry, I'm not the type to wait around for someone else to do the dirty work. I take pride in noticing when something needs to be done and taking care of it without being asked - it's like a satisfying little victory every time. And when it comes to interior design and home decor, I'm practically a pro. I'm always on the hunt for the latest and greatest tools and gadgets to keep things looking fresh and stylish. So if you're looking for someone to spruce up your space and keep things sparkling clean, I'm your go-to guy.
- I'm not in the business of putting people down - unless we're talking about the volume on the stereo (badum-tss!). But seriously, I believe in treating others with kindness and respect, even when it's not the easiest thing to do. After all, life is hard enough without having to deal with someone else's negativity. So let's lift each other up instead of tearing each other down, shall we?
- I set feasible goals and actively pursue them.
Here's a list of my favorites:
Movies/Series | Music | Places | Activities | Books |
Godfather | Radiohead | Paris (not yet) | Cycling | The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday |
Sherlock | Eraserheads | Coffee Shops | Painting | How to Win Friends & Influence People |
Castaway | Chicago | Cebu | Roadtrips | Meditations by Marcus Aurelius |
Forrest Gump | Ebe Dancel | Japan | Diving | Start with Why by Simon Sinek |
Homeland | Urbandub | Rome (not yet) | Piano | Atomic Habits by James Clear |
Before Sunset | Frederic Chopin | Canada | Travelling | How to think like a Roman Emperor |
The Office | Eminem | New York (not yet) | Cooking | Letters from Stoic |
Big Bang Theory | Dr. Dre | Maldives (not yet) | Film & Photography | 48 Laws of Power |
Breaking Bad | Elton John | Marrakesh (not yet) | Badminton | The Intelligent Investor |
Pros:
- Responsible (Good credit score, no debts, no criminal records, and self-reliant)
- Curious type of person, who's ready to listen and craves to learn a lot of things
- Doesn't do drugs and is not a heavy drinkealcoholic.
- Respects your views and accept healthy criticism.
- Actually appreciating the things you'll do for me, and showing it. If you cooked a big dinner, saying thank you is nice. Doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen is even nicer, and in my opinion, should be the norm. The cook doesn't clean. If someone does something for me, I'll show them that their effort was appreciated instead of just accepting their generosity and then running off back to whatever I'm doing.
- Accepts responsibility for one's own actions and does not try to blame everything or everyone else.
- Doesnāt play online and computer games
My preference:
- Someone who has a strong passion for accurate and comprehensive learning, maintains a normal BMI, and is beautiful and easy on the eyes - I believe that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes (no offense intended towards plus-size women!).
- High standards for what she wants and is not afraid to communicate it.
- Craves knowledge too. Love and isn't afraid to try new things
- Passionate and proud about something they've been working on/have done/are planning to do
- Confident about what they want but isn't in-your-face about it.
Let's take a break from stressing over the mundane and focus on the important stuff - like what will make us happy for the rest of our lives! Share your thoughts on how we can achieve that and let's get this happiness train moving! Oh, and if you're curious letās exchange photos first!

2023.06.03 13:06 JamersonRosenstein Installing new gutters costs
Hello all!
Iām a home owner looking to get the best deal on new gutters and leaf guards. I called one place that had an advertisement for gutter replacement and their pricing was all over the place.
We started at replacing the leaf guards only for 40 liner feet at $5000 then after his ālimited time dealsā it was down to $3,500. I said no, and asked him if there was a discount for doing 80 linear feet, and getting all new gutters and leaf guards. He then magically was able to get the price down to $2,700. I rejected him and the next day he texts me saying there was a sudden surplus inventory and the whole job (80 linear feet of new gutters and leaf guards) was only gonna cost $1,700. At this rate if keep saying no Iām expecting this guy will do it for free if I let him put a yard sign out. Lol Iām kidding, but it does get me a little annoyed that he clearly isnāt opening with his real price.
What should one realistically expect for replacing 80 linear feet of gutter and leaf guards? Would it be cheaper to buy the material myself and hire a contractor to just install? Iām not trying to cheap out, but I would like an honest price.

He arrived with his parents and his famous siblings - Janet, LaToya, Jermaine, Tito and Randy. They waved to the fans chants of ĀMichael is Innocent!Ā https://preview.redd.it/p8jtchhn0p3b1.jpg?width=612&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cb1c23e69cfefb6e4608aa16b3650011976c106 Defense attorneys completed their closing arguments, labeling the Arvizo family liars and con artists trying to pull Āthe biggest con of their careersĀ. "They are trying to take advantage of Michael Jackson," said impassioned defense attorney Thomas Mesereau. "They are trying to profit from Michael Jackson. They think they have pulled it off. They are just waiting for one thing - your verdict." "What they are trying to do to Michael Jackson is so harmful, so brutal, so devastating if you have any reasonable doubt about the double-talk, the lies, its over. You must acquit Michael Jackson," he told the 12 jurors. Mesereau spoke about the American system of justice and said, "We have the best system in the world and ladies and gentlemen I'm begging you to honor the system. You must acquit him." He accused prosecutors of trying to "dirty up Michael" because they lack the evidence to prove their case. "The witnesses are preposterous, the perjury is everywhere," Mesereau declared. "None of it works. The only thing they've had is to throw dirt all over the place and hope it sticks." He added: "If you look in your hearts do you believe Michael Jackson is evil in that way? Is it even possible? It really is not." Mesereau then played excerpts from a video in which Jackson denies any sexual impropriety and said that he had Ānever been betrayed or deceived by children.Ā The defense attorney conceded that Jackson had been lax with his money and had let the wrong people into his circle. But, he said, the singer was not the ĀmonsterĀ the prosecution were trying to depict and that he was not guilty of any crime. Afterwards, prosecutor Ron Zonen delivered a brief rebuttal. He sought to answer the question of JacksonĀs motivation for the crime asking, "Why would Mr. Jackson do it? Because he could This child was in love with him. This child would do anything he said." Zonen reminded jurors of the past allegations made against Jackson saying that this was necessary in order to Āsee the total pictureĀ. He claimed that Jackson was Āin loveĀ with his 1993 accuser and added that the current accuser is a ĀcloneĀ of the boy in that case. After both sides rested for the last time, Judge Rodney Melville ordered the eight women and four men on the jury to begin their deliberations. He gave them a 98-page book of instructions. The Judge told Jackson that he could stay at Neverland during the proceedings but requested that the attorneys remain within 10 minutes of the courthouse in case the jurors had any questions. These deliberations are the final stage of an ordeal that began 14 weeks ago. During this time the jury has heard testimony from over 130 witnesses. A verdict was expected early next week. Court Transcript While Jury deliberations take place, the whole Jackson family waits for the verdict at Neverland. https://preview.redd.it/lh5l7gqo0p3b1.jpg?width=612&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5967b6b6c73b0a56bec2b5b8e28f20e68b9ddb7 2008 - Michael has dinner with Thomas Barrack Jr, chairman and CEO of Colony Capital LLC, at the Las Vegas Hilton's Verona Sky Villa. 2009 - Michael goes to Culver Studios with Prince, Paris & Kenny Ortega, where he shoots āThe Drillā 3D https://preview.redd.it/5lzzqj2t0p3b1.jpg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8747a49dd0f9c68ae73b6f93fa21e2f9e01b6a77 https://preview.redd.it/hezl4ayt0p3b1.jpg?width=199&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1dae7ef1a99ee196a5be6dbfb8cd5ab243856f58 He also, once again, goes to Dr Kleinās in Beverly Hills. 2013 - Jackson v AEG Trial Day 22 No Jackson family member was at the courthouse. Paul Gongaware AEG cross Putnam asked Gongaware if MJ was comfortable with all the show dates. "Yes, I went through all of the dates with him," Gongaware said. Bugzee, the tour manager, had a big calendar on the walls, Gongaware explained, saying they changed the dates of the shows four times. The jury was shown an email in which Gongaware worked with a staffer to create a calendar to show Jackson. He wanted colors changed. He wanted the calendar to be changed so that it reflected Jackson's show dates and off days differently. Gongaware email: Figure it out so it looks like he's not working so much As to the email, Putnam asked if he was trying to fool Michael: "No, I was trying to make it clear, trying to get it just the way I wanted it," Gongaware responded. After changing 4 show dates Gongaware said Michael was comfortable with it. He would do 8 shows in July, 10 in August, 9 in September. There would be no shows in October, November and December, resuming with 10 shows in January, 10 in February and three in March. No back-to-back shows. Gongaware said the O2 Arena had a previous commitment in Oct-Dec of 2009 and they could not have the concerts. Putnam: "Was this a rigorous schedule?" Gongaware: "No, not at all" Gongaware recalled that on the HIStory tour they did 10-12 shows per month, from country to country, but this one would stay in London only. Gongaware said he wasn't concerned with Michael's age. "He seemed great to me," he said, and this was stationary show, didn't have to travel. Gongaware: The reason Michael wanted to delay the 1st show was he wanted more time to rehearse in the O2 Arena where the show would take place. He said Michael and Kenny Ortega would decide the rehearsal schedule. Gongaware explained Michael didn't have to attend rehearsals, since it was not part of his deal. He said they never require an artist to rehearse. "I didn't have any expectation," Gongaware said regarding Michael rehearsing. He said he's never seen a requirement for a musicial artist to rehearse & that during the HIStory tour, Michael didn't rehearse but nailed it. "When it was game time, he would show up," Gongaware explained. For instance, Gongaware cited an outdoor concert in Bangkok in high heat, humidity. As to the email Gongaware wrote about calling Michael lazy, he said he used unfortunate choices of words, Michael didn't like to rehearse. Talking about the elements of the show, Gongaware described what they wanted to do for the opening of the show. He said Michael would be dressed up in a LED suit, like a television, flashing on him brief movie about things that happened in history. Michael would be lowered down onto the stage. He called the LED suit a "Moon man" suit, but Ortega called it "Light man." Putnam showed a presentation of how the LED suit idea would work. Footage is not on This Is It documentary because it was early stages of prep. Gongaware said the 1st idea was to make Michael float from the audience, but they couldn't make it work. So they decided to lower him down onto the stage. Gongaware said the big screen on the back of the stage was 3D capable. The audience would be given glasses when they entered the show. The 3D songs would be Thriller, Earth Song and Smooth Criminal. "He wanted to do biggest, best show ever, live show," Gongaware said Putnam showed email chain from Ortega to Gongaware asking to make a deal with choreographer Travis Payne. Answer from Gongaware: This is not AEG money, it's Michael's money so it takes a lot of time to get approvals Defendants were trying to establish a pattern that all the money spent was actually Michael's money, not AEG's, just like with Dr. Murray At one point Gongaware said he learned from Michael about a doctor named Murray. "He came to me and said he wanted his personal doctor on the tour". Gongaware said he suggested to Michael to get a licensed doctor in London who would know the lay of the land, in case of need. "This is the machine, we have to take care of the machine. I want Conrad," Gongaware said Michael responded. I think what he meant was his brain could create it but his body had to deliver the show every night Putnam: "Were you surprised he wanted to take his doctor on tour?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Why not?" Gongaware: "He had doctors before" Gongaware said other artists take doctors as well, so he was not the only one and it didn't surprise him. Gongaware said he's been on tour before where an artist had chiropractors, but couldn't remember being in one with a doctor Putnam: "Did you worry Michael might have a health issue?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Why not?" Gongaware: "He seemed fine to me, had a physical and passed" Gongaware said the suggestion for a London doctor was due to the cost; paying a doctor full time was much more expensive than hiring a local doctor. Gongaware said Dr. Murray treated Michael for about three years before 2009. He knew the doctor was from Las Vegas but said he was in LA. Gongaware said he then called Dr. Murray to work out a deal. Gongaware testified he didn't have Michael's direct phone number, would go through Michael Amir Williams, his personal assistant, to reach him. Gongaware called Murray on behalf of Michael saying the singer wanted to take him to London. "What do you want to be paid for that," Gongaware asked. Gongaware said he thought Dr. Murray was expecting his call and was aware of the desire to take him on tour. "He said he would need $5 million," Gongaware recalled. "He said he has 4 clinics to close, would lay off people, needs $5 million for that." Asked by Putnam if Murray's price was reasonable: "It was ridiculous," Gongaware said about the amount asked. "It was a lot of money for something like that and Michael could not afford it." Gongaware said he responded that it wasn't going to work" He said this was the first time he spoke with Dr. Murray. After that, Gongaware said he told Michael Amir and Randy Phillips what the doctor had asked. He also told Frank DiLeo. Gongaware said a lot of people who wanted to work for MJ asked for huge sums of money, thinking he had a lot. Putnam: "Would you be doing this if Michael had not asked you?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Did you contemplate bringing a doctor on tour?" Gongaware: "I didn't think he needed one, we didn't have one in History, he was fine" "He was Michael's doctor, Michael wanted him. That was it," Gongaware said. Putnam:" Did you think about checking the doctor?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Why not?" Gongaware: "He was Michael's doctor" " I'm not going to tell Michael Jackson who his doctor should be," Gongaware explained. "It wasn't my place to say who his doctor was going to be," Gongaware said. "It was his decision." Gongaware said he doesn't think a doctor's financial situation has anything to do with being an ethical doctor. Gongaware said it never crossed his mind to either do a background check on Dr. Murray or to suggest to anyone to do it. "I just expect doctors to be ethical, the financial side of their lives shouldn't have an impact on their medical decision," Gongaware opined. Gongaware said he never did a background check on anyone he hired and had he done one on Dr. Murray, it would've been out of the ordinary. He also said he never considered performing background checks on Jackson's makeup artist, a choreographer who worked one-on-one with the singer or Kenny Ortega, the tour's director. "I didn't see the need for it," he said. Dr. Finkelstein, a friend of Gongaware, said a doctor should charge $10,000 a month for the tour work. But Dr. Finkelstein would've done it for free, since he was on the Dangerous tour before and had a lot of fun The second call about Dr. Murray came from Michael Amir Williams saying they were going to need to get a deal done for the doctor. Gongaware said he heard Michael in the car saying "offer 150, offer 150." Gongaware understood that to be $150k/month. Gongaware called Dr. Murray, said he was authorized to offer him $150k a month. He said Dr. Murray responded that he couldn't do it for that. Gongaware told him the offer came directly from the artist and Dr. Murray responded: "I'll take it" Gongaware said Michael approved the amount of compensation. "Michael told me offer 150," Gongaware recalled. "And that's what I did." Gongaware inquired from Dr. Murray how he would get a license in London and the doctor told him not to worry about it. They talked about Dr. Murray's request for a house in London, and the doctor said he would need a three bedroom house. Gongaware recalled Dr. Murray saying he would probably need an assistant and some equipment, but no details were given at this point. After the call, Gongaware said he let Michael Amir Williams know what the result was in a May 6th email: Done at 150k per month, per MJ. He needs about 10 days to wind down his practice then he will be full time Asked why he had negotiated with Murray, the AEG executive replied that he was "instructed to by Michael Jackson." Gongaware said there was no other reason for him to deal with the doctor. Marvin Putnam asked Gongaware why he didn't tell Jackson he couldn't take Murray on tour with him."Because he could if he wanted," Gongaware said. Gongaware said he passed Dr. Murray on to Timm Wooley, never had any other conversation with Dr. Murray about him possibly going to London. Putnam: "Do you have any understanding as to whether a contract with Dr. Murray was executed?" Gongaware: "One never was" Putnam: "Did AEG pay Dr. Murray any kind of money?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said Michael was ultimately responsible for his own health: "I think everyone is responsible for their own health and well being. He was a grown man with the capability to make decisions regarding his health and medical care" Putnam showed Gongaware a frame from the This Is It film in which Jackson's manager, Frank Dileo, was sitting in on dancer auditions. Dancers auditions took place at the Nokia Theater on April 13, 14 & 15. Michael attended the last day and made the final decision, Gongaware said. He said Ortega wanted to film the audition to use fresh footage on michaeljacksonlive.com. The cost for crew to shoot the audition was very high, so Gongaware bought a couple of cameras and used his own crew to shoot the rehearsals. He said he wasn't sure what he would use the video for, but thought the website would be a good platform. Gongaware said during the period at Center Staging, Michael was good, engaging, didn't think there were any health issues or was using drugs Gongaware said the media in the UK was going wild with gossip about Michael Jackson. "They just lie about things." The Sun claimed Michael had skin cancer on his chest. "It was sport over in London," Gongaware said about stories on tabloids. Gongaware testified about emails in which UK press agents working on This Is It sent him tabloid reports on Michael's health. Gongaware said he urged the press agents not to respond. He wanted Jackson's performance to speak for itself & silence skeptics. Gongaware on 5/27/09: The Kid is healthy and rehearsing every day. He was still there at dance rehearsals at 9pm last night when I left. Our redemption will be when he does his shows, that makes all of this build up so damn sweet. We don't have to sell tickets, so we can just sit back and prove them wrong by just doing it. Gongaware said he was not concerned "If there was something going on, if he had cancer, we would've heard about it." Michael Jackson rehearsal venues: - Mar 28- Center Staging
- May 27- Forum June 23 - Staples Center
- July 13 - O2 Arena
Putnam also asked Gongaware about an incident Karen Faye testified about, that she heard him yelling at Michael's assistant one day. The incident occurred while This Is It rehearsals were happening at The Forum in LA. Faye claimed she heard Gongaware yelling about Jackson being late to a rehearsal and told his assistant to get him there. "Never, never happened," Gongaware said, shaking his head. Putnam went through a chain of emails about tabloid reports in the UK regarding Michael. In one, it said Michael had asked AEG to reduce the number of shows by half. Gongaware said that such a discussion never happened. Gongaware testified he woke up to one gossip headline pretty much every day. His idea was simply to ignore the tabloids. "An amazing show would be the answer", Gongaware said Gongaware on 6/5/09 in response to Sunday Mirror Query: "We can only make this work, of course, if MJ puts on the best show of his life. I'm here to tell you that be will. I have seen it for myself. Last night he ran 9 songs with full band, singers and dancers. Sang every one, he was amazing, captivating, riveting. And he's just getting started. Taking it one step further. When people realize that bulls**t the press has been, they will be in receptive mood for the truth Hey look. No skin cancer. He's just a good dad, loving raising his kids. His art and his craft are paramount. A gentle, loving man who does care about people "The shows were going to be spectacular," Gongaware said. Putnam showed a clip of Michael in front of a green screen with 11 dancers, who would become 11,000. Gongaware said Michael was great at this point Regarding email Phillips sent Gongaware directing to remove Michael's "skeletal" scenes Gongaware said he didn't take anything out of the movie. Putnam: "Did you remove anything from the movie?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam showed a clip from This Is It with the making of "Thriller 3D" and Jackson wearing red jacket. Putnam: "Did you try to alter in anyway how Mr. Jackson looked, appeared?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said he didn't remember any of the footage been removed because of how Michael looked. "We just let the footage speak for itself" The mini-movie of "Earth Song" a bulldozer would come out from a ramp in center stage. Putnam: "A real bulldozer?" Gongaware: "I wish, it would've been cheaper, but it would have crushed our ramps" Gongaware said they had to build the bulldozer like a prop. It would appear at the end of the song on stage. "I think the live audience would be just captivated by it," Gongaware said about the little girl running after the last plant on Earth song. End of the show would be 3D animation. An airplane taxis up, door opens, Michael entered the plane. The airplane door closes, Michael would actually take an elevator down and out of the building, but the plane would take off over the audience Gongaware said he didn't know if anyone was responsible for Michael's nourishment. Tour would be demanding and exhausting Gongaware said he met Dr. Murray once at MJ's Carolwood house and ran into him at The Forum during rehearsal. There was a meeting scheduled to discuss Michael's nutrition with Randy Phillips, Kenny Ortega, Dr. Murray, Michael, Gongaware and DiLeo. Putnam: "Do you recall anyone in that meeting ever telling Dr. Murray how he should be treating Michael?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said he didn't have any medical training and wasn't qualified to tell Conrad Murray how to treat Jackson Gongaware said neither Dr. Murray nor Michael talked about the treatment he was receiving. The meeting was about nutrition & vitamin therapy. Gongaware said he had no idea Dr. Murray was giving Michael Propofol and first heard of the anesthetic after Michael died. Gongaware said Dr. Murray was really engaged in the meeting, seemed like a very intelligent guy and wanted to take care of Michael very much. This was the first time Gongaware met with Dr. Murray. He said there were no signs of Michael being poorly treated by the doctor. "Michael was engaged in the meeting, attentive, seemed happy we were having this meeting," Gongaware opined. "He's a doctor, he'd know better than anybody how to treat his patient," Gongaware said about Dr. Murray. As to Gongaware's email saying AEG, not Michael, paid Dr Murray he said he was mistaken. "We wouldn't pay his salary, we'd advance Michael's money". Gongaware said he didn't remember writing/receiving the email, but never denied he did it. As to Michael being habitually late, Gongaware said the singer worked on his own schedule, did things his way Gongaware said his understanding was that Michael hired a trainer of his choice, Louis (Lou) Ferrigno: "I made the deal with him (Ferrigno). He was supposed to be paid a certain amount of money per session" He didn't elaborate on fee, how many times he worked with Michael. Putnam showed an email from Travis Payne, he suggested a massage chair to be put in Michael's dressing room. As to Bugzee's email saying MJ needed cheeseburgers, brats and beers, Gongaware said Bugzee was joking, Bugzee cared very much for Michael. Gongaware testified he didn't recall having any concern about Michael's health/using painkillers as of Monday 6/15/09, 10 days prior to his death Gongaware was asked about several emails that have been shown before, including messages related to MJ missing rehearsal on June 19, 2009. 2023.06.03 13:01 The_Story_Builder M for A Vampire-themed story.
I am a writer, and I have been role-playing for some time. I would like to create a story with somebody I would find a harmonious and creative connection. I am also happy to discuss your ideas and we can come up with something together.
The premise is:
{I am an accomplished writer living in the Alps, near a prestigious university, one of the oldest in the world, dating back to the 14th century. I advertised a position for a literary research assistant at the university.
"You" decide to apply for the job and come for the interview.
However, little did you know that I am over 4 millennia old vampire, one of the first in fact. I was cursed by the old gods for disloyalty to my warlord. I married his daughter, and he did not approve. He had her brutally murdered and I killed him for it. The Druids cursed me to roam the Earth eternally and to crave blood. Since I was one of the first, sunlight did not affect me.}
This is planned to be a long-term, articulate, detailed story with elements of romance and it is to be filled with the discovery of the origin of many myths we find in literature and movies in this day and age.
I do understand life happens, but I will do my best to be consistent with my replies, and I would desire the same from my story partner. I am located in Western Europe, but I tend to adjust to time zones as much as I can.
If interested, feel free to text me, and we can talk more in detail. I tend to role-play on Discord.
In my view, the length of paragraphs is irrelevant, the flow of the story is what counts. The magic is in the style, cooperation, and how descriptive and imaginative the story partner is, combined with the creative connection the two share.

2023.06.03 13:01 SunshineTae Does anyone else think it would've been the same movie but better without Kiri?
This post isn't meant to be rude or to drag the writers, I just don't see any posts like this and I feel like I'm going crazy. I just feel like Kiri is a very odd character to have made it to the final cut of the movie, she's a mary sue who has no effect on the plot other than to magic people out of trouble instead of them using the otherwise practical means they could have used to get out of those situations. Is anyone else thinking this or am I missing something?

| Write a story about a magical world as suggested by this picture: https://preview.redd.it/pwhl4y8a9s3b1.png?width=297&format=png&auto=webp&s=9475672f3f910806448abbcf062ba6d3394a6259 Herbert had once again tried to lift his lead-heavy eyelids (to no avail), having just regained his consciousness from what seemed to be an eternity of a dream; after all, there was absolutely no reason for the overworked surgeon to be up early for Christmas Day. A strange sensation followed, nothing that he had experienced before: he felt almost floating. Perhaps more curiously, the familiar snores of his wife are nowhere to be heard; where is she? The space around him jerked abruptly, and a bright beam of light shone directly on him. With some effort, he could now see his surroundings, albeit with a slight tint of whiteness everywhere obscuring his sight - was it the midday sun, which had then saturated the room with a sickening warmth, or was it simply his brain playing tricks on his mind? Herbert, however, is not at all entertained; his blood freezing in the veins, his limbs rigid as a millennia-old stone, and his heartbeat raced in a lethal mixture of desperation and survival instinct. Having been trained in the medical profession, he skilfully assessed the extent of his injuries with the same calmness as he would with a patient (or so he hoped): he could not move his feet, nor legs nor arms - not even his head for the slightest. Herbert was horrified. When the amorphous mist around him had began to settle, he let out an relieved sigh initially but quickly held his breath as a large ominous shadow loomed above him, blocking most of the sunlight. On a closer look, he could roughly make up an unfamiliar human face, only distorted to such a degree that would have been comical if not for his other discovery as he looked down: He had somehow transformed into a pale-skinned, ball-shaped being, whose nose had been substituted for a cartoon-esque carrot hanging from where it was. Almost (exactly) like a snowman, he thought; but that would be ridiculous, and does not lend itself to any logical explanations whatsoever. Herbert quickly shook off that laughable thought; he might just had too much to drink the night before. But that frightening possibility lingered at the back of his mind nonetheless - how else might he make sense of his shrunken branch-like limbs hopelessly hanging before his eyes, the hilariously oversized crimson scarf on his neck suffocating him, or even the very dome he is trapped in? As much as he would hate to admit it, Herbert had accepted his fate in the snow globe. A loud creek ensued, dragging Herbert out from the depths of his consciousness as he felt a sudden falling motion. In a strange way, one that Herbert never imagined, he felt peace for once - wishing for all of it to end, a release from this potentially-eternal torment he had been subjected to. Herbert's final hope was mercilessly engulfed by the cushioned collision on what seemed to be the carpet, replaced by a thick, grey dread filling his mind as he heard a familiar voice - that of his wife: ``Cara! Careful with that globe,'' as she shoved Herbert into her bag, ''Come quick, we need to get to Grandpa's house - daddy's waiting in the car, and he says he has a surprise for us!'' submitted by Gold-Reporter-4042 to GCSE [link] [comments] |

2023.06.03 12:49 Jingobingomingo Any other early Gen Z/Zillennials that miss tf outta the 2010s?
Honestly I don't miss the 2000s much at all, not really nostalgic for that time period, I didn't have a horrible childhood but I just don't miss being a kid, and when I look back at the 2000s I still see mostly crappy movies and crappy music with the good thing to me being the shows which I still don't rewatch outside of Last Airbender and Naruto
But the 2010s? God I miss it so fucking much, to me the 2010s encapsulates my favorite time of day, late morning. It was like the springtime of youth, a magical time period where the most heart-rending struggles I faced, outside of losing my grandmother in the middle of the decade and grandfather later, were mostly adolescent problems like moderate social ostracization and not getting laid/laid as much as I wanted. And I hated the fact that I was a teen in 2012 to 2018 instead of 1982 to 1988 (younger zoomers may not know it but the 80s were fucking HUGE when I was a kid and teenager)
But outside things that mostly seem so small years later, it truly was a fucking magical time I wish I could have back. I remember so much music I loved at the time but barely realized it since I idolized 70s and 80s music. Got to see so many awesome movies as they were coming out. Got to see a Star Wars trilogy in theaters, got to see the absolute peak for the MCU. I remember being 16 and reading through chapter after chapter as the Naruto Manga was ending and me and my friends holding our breath to discuss what's going on after every chapter release. Remember being peeved that everyone liked Breaking Bad in 2013 which I didn't watch bc it was a "white people show" only to check it out years later and be like "Damn this shit pops".
I remember a world that seemed so much more joyous, so much more hopeful. I remember the terrible Great Recession, but also remember people in my city taking to the streets to protest the wealthy down at Wall Street. I remember watching the news with my mom in 2011 to watch while dictatorial regimes were toppled, I remember discussing how terrifying and evil ISIS was with my friends, remember when smartphones proliferated and when Obama mocked Romney for his Cold War mentality in thinking Russia was still a US enemy (ironic 10 years later). I remember listening to Thrift Shop and laughing along with my dad and my dad telling me about Weird AL Yankovich and all the funny parodies he made when my dad was young.
I remember the world before COVID-19 ever happened, playing smash bros and smoking weed with my best friends. All the dates I went on in college, my first girlfriends. The small streets packed by green plants and crappy frat houses in the springtime in my college town. Walking through the mall with my best friend around Christmas time when I was 19, doing acid and walking along a frozen lake with that same friend earlier that same year. The first kiss I ever had at the end of high school when I finally gave the cute girl that always had a crush on me the chance she deserved, and then ruining it by not taking her to prom. Back then it felt like my life was nothing but sadness, longing, loneliness, and self-hatred; but now, looking back what I remember most is the joy I felt, the hope I once had deep down, the faces of my friends that pushed away the loneliness, and the love I felt for the ones around me and was given in return. So many memories that come together spiraling in my head, bringing tears to my eyes, a world that felt so much brighter, and a self with so much more potential than what I have now, and so much more freedom as well. I truly miss those days, and I never thought I would. I truly miss the 2010s.
So I just wanna say to the younger zoomers on this sub, honestly, I'm begging you, cherish your youth, cherish every memory, cherish your friends, remember the faces of those around you, remember their hearts, remember the bonds you share, hold it to your hearts and cherish it now and forever.

2023.06.03 12:46 seafoamjellyfish Movies like Bloody Hell (2020), The Guest (2014), Drive (2011)...?
All very stylistic and a bit niche with great OSTs. Action packed, has a bit of mystique with the MC, and "art house". Has the "indie" feel to it, but it doesn't have to be indie. Already seen all the John Wick movies. Don't recommend me them, lol. I love them, but seen them all.
Thank you in advance.

2023.06.03 12:41 coolnavigator Ramblings on Consciousness, Free Will, Trauma, Waking Up, Enlightenment
Ramifications of Plato's Cave
I think people have talked a lot about the nature of Plato's Cave and not enough about the ramifications of Plato's Cave.
If we are all stuck in a subjective view of the world, and we become illusioned by ourselves, and we rarely ever want to throw away this illusion (ie pursue enlightenment), what does that say about us?
We don't merely think in terms of narratives. We like narratives. We prefer the cave. We live our lives as though it were a narrative. We probably couldn't even stop this if we wanted to, to a certain extent.
What does it mean when we absorb this? What are we doing for ourselves at the point in time when we start thinking about these topics?
In short, we're unhappy with the narrative. It's literally like waking up from a nightmare. We're scared or upset about the nature of reality, so our goal is to recraft a new narrative that will put us back to sleep. That's the concept of "peace". That's the concept of "non-disturbance", which is something we've been chasing ever since we were born and wished to return to the womb, which was a period of forever sleep and forever peace.
All of the learning in the world starts with wanting to understand the world's parameters, so we can more effectively craft dreams for ourselves, so we can live out the narrative that will make us happy.
Neo in the Matrix is the "hacker" who wants to know deeply about the universe because he is someone who wants to craft the greatest dream of all, for himself and for his love (Trinity). Neo ends up sacrificing himself to save his love, which means he "dies" and so does the ever-present evidence of the Matrix existing (Agent Smith everywhere). This is again proof that he prefers the dream, although he also believes that he will one day overcome all of the ancient, deprecated "code" (memes, genes, traditions, culture, etc) inherent in human individuals and in human society.
This is representative of the mythology around christ consciousness. It is about sacrificing one's self for future reward, which comes in the form of a richer, more pleasurable, and more real story. Perhaps one in which we are all happier, healthier, and more prosperous. This is the summary of the entire mythos around Neo, Jesus, and many other individuals.
I think one of the main reasons old psychedelic aficionados will say "you didn't take enough" if you have a bad trip is that one of the main goals of trips is to remember why you went. Not just "what information are you trying to extract" from this trip, with altered consciousness, but why do you need this info? What are you really doing with your life?
Traumatic rituals
Another implication from this...
What is the purpose of traumatic rituals, perhaps some we might call satanic?
If we induce fear in someone, we can get them to keep waking up (not just in terms of sleep, but in terms of consciousness), and when they do that, they have a chance to advance themselves. It's totally abused though, and they aren't trying to create enlightened individuals so much as highly trained tools who can do things that ordinary sleepwalkers couldn't.
Sex Magick
This is related to operant conditioning. basically, the reward centers are so activated from sexual activity (or even masturbation) that it helps get you to agree and purify yourself before an idea.
Sexual activity puts you in a very suggestible and controllable state. If someone else is providing you with the sex and ideas at the same time, they can control you with this process. That being said, you can use sex to actually meditate and change your own mind as well, but this would not be broadly taught due to the inherent risk in doing so (only works as well as the individual makes good choices during it).
As I will get into later, the idea that thoughts and ideas are like lives, so the "lives" which learn to desire and crave sexuality find themselves to have complete and utter control over your body at times. The only way to cure such an addiction is to go around and exterminate these lives. It's not just about deciding to do it, nor is it about living in the vain belief you even do decide on a moment to moment basis what you do. You actually have to consciously do work to kill those devils. Also for this reason, sex magick is not widely taught.
Curiosity
There is this concept of simply "noticing the birds". Jesus was even quoted saying something along the lines of "make sure to smell the flowers".
Why though? We usually decipher this as just "enjoy your life" and don't think more about it. I have an alternative explanation.
Acts such as this are what keep you awake. They retain your consciousness. By continuing to be curious, your mind stays alive. And furthermore, it is the healthier alternative compared fear, which I said would keep you awake in a more nightmare-like state.
Waking up
As I said, we are all living out narratives. The question is, who is the narrator and the story planner? In a healthy, conscious adult, you are your own god. You are your own narrator and story planner. What does the entertainment/education/media complex attempt to do? It wishes to subvert your narrator and story planning, so that
it is now in control, and you are merely observing something outside of yourself. This is mind control. Now, consciousness is always observing something, since it has a rather passive role in cognition, but the point is that it's no longer observing internal processes so much as an external "man behind the curtain", representative of all of entertainment/education/media available today. We do have a name for this complex. We call it "The Cathedral".
While it's certainly true that entertaining content has a market value, it's absolutely crucial for you to understand that The Cathedral is not an organic institution made up of profit seekers. The Cathedral is an ideological organization that is
not concerned with making money. Why? The Cathedral is ran by the people who already own half the world. They run finance. They are the bankers. The purpose of the Cathedral is not to make profit, but to ensure their primary modes of business continue to profit them.
It is disinformation. Yes, there are subcontractors who seek profit in the Cathedral complex, but these are not the people who run the system.
There are a ton of avenues for exploring this. We could talk about how old oil money was the primary means by which radio as a medium was researched in the early 1900s (The Radio Project, funded by Rockefellers). We could talk about how identity politics scarcely existed just 10-15 years ago, and when the Occupy Wall Street movement started gaining momentum, suddenly identity politics existed as a distraction from anything those nasty Wall St executives and their lackeys were doing. People seem to get angry because they think Disney is attempting to create a profit from selling the new Mermaid to a wider range of audiences than before, but they should be
even more angry if they realize Disney ultimately doesn't care about making money from Mermaid. They simply are doing what they are told, to drum up conflict and loss of social cohesion, so that the real powerbrokers can operate unimpeded.
Yes, it is about money, but not necessary movie money. Not necessarily tech bro money either. Even Facebook showed up at the exact time that DARPA was shutting down an exploratory project called LifeLog that did the exact same thing. Did Zuckerberg "magically" pull himself up by his bootstraps, or was he connected like Bill Gates was connected, whose father was powerful in the intelligence community and who was a member of the early equivalent of the WEF dating back to the 1960s? Microsoft was a ploy for the government to have a backdoor into all computer systems. Facebook was a ploy for the government to have a backdoor into everyone's social lives. Google has become a ploy to control all searches (I have not found evidence to suggest it began this way though ā not to say it doesn't exist).
You might ask yourself... Does it feel like something is missing in your life? Would you call it "meaning" or "spirit"? Is it possible you have lost communication with the center of yourself which has the answers for meaning and the feeling of spirit? And could this lost communication be due to the Cathedral's attacks on your mind?
The problem isn't necessarily waking up / not waking up. This is a false dichotomy. Simply change what you are dreaming about.
However, "waking up" could be considered an honorable task, since you are in effect becoming the lightbearer for everyone else. For that path, the most important thing to realize is that there are different reasons to wake up. It's really just like dreaming. You could wake up from a nightmare, or you could stay up all night out of curiosity for a thing that you just can't put down. "Waking up" out of fear isn't very productive (except insofar as you change your dreams, per my first point), but waking up out of curiosity and creativity is... simply world-changing.
Is that why they're banning books in Florida?
Which books are they banning? Those that serve curiosity, creativity, intelligence, and growth as a human being, or those that serve darker forces such as perverse sexuality?
People are equipped with limited options to fight the tyranny of the Cathedral. Book banning is a last ditch effort to stop the mind control put upon us.
Even if you donāt believe in conspiracyā¦.. his words ring very very true
This is an interesting, albeit naive, place to be. You blame all bad things on the nature of people, rather than the actions of people.
Free Will
If we consider that language is composed of symbols, which indicate concepts, and that concepts seem to always be a compressed version of something that's beyond the logical mind's ordinary ability to work with, then it follows that free will is just such a symbol.
Further, our conceptual mind apparently gives all concepts their meaning by way of relating them to opposite symbols ā e.g. free will has no conceptual usefulness in the absence of the concept of "fate" or "destiny", etc. I propose that neither free will nor destiny exist as anything other than concepts which aren't mapping the situation realistically.
Specifically they are symbols, and "we" exist within those symbols so long as there is an automatic assumption that if neither exists, something must take their place. If you tell someone they have free will, you automatically introduce the concept of destiny, and vice versa. If you tell someone who doesn't know themselves that they have free will, exactly who have you granted such "freedom" to?
All of these symbols are like "lives" themselves, and as long as they exist within us, they live and state their cases to be known. When you fully decide against something, you kill it within yourself. You kill the idea, which ends its life at least with you.
Consciousness isn't so much about "thinking" as it is deciding which lives to keep and which to kill. You're choosing which symbols to associate with. You're choosing which subconscious processes to follow.
That is perhaps the function of the thing we call free will. So in that sense, it's not so much that it is free will vs destiny, but it is this tiered concept of cognition. There are the "lives" existing within you, then there is the "god" who allows them to live or die.
This also frames the idea of destiny, which you might say is the assumption of a "life" within you existing forever. In other words, would it even be "your" destiny if parts of yourself could literally be created and destroyed? Perhaps we are like the ship of theseus in more ways than we realize. It's not even so much about destiny as it is the idea of object permanence or realism in the first place.
This description of symbols living within us is the concept of the noosphere, by the way. It's a "sphere" similar to a biosphere or ecosphere, which exists
on top of conscious beings. There is our body (the hardware), then there is "the spirit" or whatever you want to call the "immaterial" (technically electrons are material but very hard to measure in large structures) resting on top of it, and the collection of all of these immaterial beings exist in the noosphere.

2023.06.03 12:40 RoseBlack2222 There Is Something I Have Been Wondering About.
Since watching Across the Spiderverse which was phenomenal, something has been bugging me. The trailer and certain cameos in the movie pretty much solidify Miles' reality links with the MCU. Seeing as how this is the case, how come in No Way Home Tobey and Andrew's Peters didn't do any of that weird glitching out stuff? We saw in Across The Spiderverse you can end up in a reality almost identical to yours and still glitch out so why didn't the two Peters or any of their villains for that matter? I may have an explanation for this and it all has to do with how they were brought into the MCU.
What I'm thinking is that Doctor Strange's spell despite going haywire was still a more stable means of bringing in people from other realities compared to Kingpin's machine and therefore those brought in that way would not experience any adverse effects. In other words, magic is safer than science. At least, that's the best explanation I can think of, but let me know what you all think.

2023.06.03 12:27 Ascending2U 22 [M4F] #Atlanta & Surrounding Areas - Excited & Outgoing Young Geek/Athletic Gym Rat Seeking Adventurous Woman For Ongoing Friendship/Potential LTR; Pegging Welcomed Lol
Hello there and Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Fellow Redditors!
Before you continue, as a young man who knows what he wants, I would like to state what I am NOT seeking:
- Fakes/Flakes
- Pen-Pals: (Meeting up in real life should be the goal)
- Time-wasters: Introduction and pleasantries are fine and welcomed. I am just looking for the conversation to progress and for dates to be marked on the calendar! My schedule is FLEXIBLE due to my line of work, so I can adapt and evolve as needed!
- Lastly, PG pictures work just fine, and I have plenty to share. Yes, I am well-endowed, but there's more to me than that. With that being said, you wouldn't walk up to a man in real life and ask him his cock size at your first introduction...would you?
I'm not a man looking for loads of digital nudity. I would definitely much rather see you in real life and get a surprise!
*** Also, I'm on NoFap. The basic explanation means I don't masturbate and waste my seed into kleenexs, lol. (Going almost 200 days strong), so unbridled, primal virility are aplenty with me!
***SHORTENED VERSION:
TLDR: Summary of me: I'm a young nerd/geek with an outgoing personality, shredded physique, and contagious smile/love of laugh laughter. I'm seeking a like-minded woman to befriend and have an ONGOING, and most importantly, RELIABLE mutual relationship (friendship) with. I'm also very open to something serious as well!
I am also a HUGE Giver and love extended foreplay. I am straight & fully comfortable in my sexuality and open to a vast array of Kinks/Potential Fantasies inside and outside of the bedroom! PEGGING has definitely become quite an interest of mine too!
PSA: For those looking to stay safe and keep their circle small or require discretion due to certain circumstances (work or personal), I'm your guy!
*** Also open to the potential of seriousness & exclusively should we take that course!
***LONG VERSION:
Hello there,
I am a young, well-spoken, and outgoing individual sporting an amazing sense of humor & chiseled physique. I deeply enjoy good conversation filled with laughter and the warmth it brings and love to please as I am very eager to learn, try, and experience new things!
Things I enjoy OUTSIDE of the bedroom:
- Fitness (Both Resistance & Aerobic) Walking, Jogging, Hiking, etc.
- Video Games & Board Games
- Nerf Wars & Airsoft
- Nature Exploration & Outdoor Recreation (I would love to try out camping, kayaking, and canoeing!)
- Watching Movies and TV Shows
- Creative Thinking both PG and Rated R lol
Things I enjoy Inside of the Bedroom include everything vanilla plus A LOT (virtually open to exploring everything except extreme pain) more that I'd love to discuss face to face.
My Ideal Person:
I am searching for a cool, laid-back and relaxed woman to enjoy mutual fun INSIDE and preferably OUTSIDE of the bedroom as well. The type of person who can enjoy a mind-blowing session while also being able to laugh at various blunders or bloopers that happen during or after the fun, go for nature walks with a lustful twist, and/or seeing a movie on the couch or in theatre!
NO Pressure, NO Insecurity, just cool peeps having an amazing, hot time while creating passionate memories together.
Thanks for stopping by and reading. Shoot me a chat request, and I look forward to meeting you!
