Hi there, I went to hematology for a low WBC count and while there I mentioned to them that I have had palpable lymph-nodes in my neck for 3.5 years and I have already been checked previously by 4 doctors including a pediatric oncologist and had multiple ultrasounds which suggest it’s non-concerning. However, she took an ACE level test and it came back elevated and she said something along the lines “You’re ACE levels came back elevated and it could suggest sarcoidosis and if you’re concerned go to a GP and get it measured again” — ANYWAYS! I didn’t think much of it and let it be for 6 months & I went to a Nurse Practitioner to repeat my CBC out of curiosity which showed everything was normal and my WBC was 5.6 which was great. I also asked for the ACE level test to be re-measured and they didn’t know what that even was. They had me come back after they researched it and then they took a small vile of blood. They sent it off and it came back high at a 135 and cut off for that lab was 80. I am freaking out because he contacted the hematologist doc and they said I should go to a pulmonologist. I feel perfectly healthy and better than I ever have. I am freaking out because google keeps saying ACE levels being high indicates: Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma AND Lung cancer. I am absolutely plummeting right now and nothing makes sense to me. Please give me some advice OR knowledge. Its hard to find stuff online speaking about ACE levels.

These last 2 months my left ear has been getting so bad, as I’m typing this I’m having an awful throbbing like pain in my ear… here is what’s happening recently
if it’s just getting worse and worse . I’m wondering if it’s fluid building up more and if listening to music and such causes pain , if that is a symptom of fluid build up

Hi everyone, so I am a new nurse (6 months licensed) and so far I've had four jobs. My first job was at a community hospital and it was really bad in the sense that they were not welcoming to a new grad and the nurses were simply not willing to/too busy to teach. Started in ICU, transferred to MS/Tele within 2 months, then ended up being "let go" (forced resignation) because I wasn't catching up to speed in orientation. That hospital had a ton of weird policies and such but aside from that, it just was not a good learning environment for a new nurse. My second and third jobs were per-diem positions at a nursing home and the other at a surgical center.
Nursing home: They literally did not care what I did as long as I kept the residents safe and reported any unsafe conditions to the charge. The ratio was 1:15 which, for a nursing home, is really good as some nursing homes are 1:40 or worse. I had my HydroFlask on my med cart, my phone charging, and long lunch breaks. They loved me and I loved them. Why didn't I go there full time? Well, as a new nurse, I felt it just was not a good environment for growth and learning. All I did there was pass meds, some wound care, BiPAP once, and calling 911 when residents have a sudden change in condition. The charting is simple and everything is so mundane about the job, However, the pay was good and they valued me there. I am still active and can schedule whenever I want but I haven't lately due to my current full-timer.
Surgery center: Okay, so, there are soooo many surgery centers around me that it feels like they're gas stations. However, the one I joined was the only one that was open to new grads. Most require 2+ years of bedside. So, I joined initially as full-time and I liked it because the work was very simple. Simple charting, simple tasks, and I felt like I was learning a bit too. I worked in surgery centers when I was a CMA so I know the environment. It's a production line basically but they are fun. The issue with that place is they are 4 10s a week and require every other Saturday. They also have policies like short lunch breaks, no water bottles at nursing station, no phones, etc. It's a good place to work with good coworkers but ultimately I decided to go per-diem there because I got an offer for my current job.
My current job is at an LTAC facility. I like to think of it as a mix between MS and ICU. Some patients are more critical than others and the ratios are 1:4 unless your assignment contains a drip patient, then it is 2-3 at most. I am off orientation and honestly it is not a horrible environment. My coworkers are supportive and willing to help out if need be. My preceptor was AMAZING and willing to teach. My manager is also really great. The work itself can be intense at times depending on your assignment but it's fulfilling. The pay and benefits are also amazing. Problem is, there is upper management that SUCKS! They are constantly making rounds to see if people are wearing PPE (even in non-isolation rooms), they put this special substance on your workstation when you are not there and then come by later with a blacklight to see if you are cleaning your computer, if they see you with your phone or water bottle in the hallway they yell, and there is so much more that I can go on about. They're literally nazis. They can and do write up nurses/aides for stupid shit. I have not been written up yet but I am sure I will because I do not follow their stupid shit. I am too busy to be cleaning computers, wearing PPE to simply check vitals, and I am always dry so my water bottle is in my hands (except in patient rooms).
I just want a job where I can go to work and not have to deal with all this bullshit. I am considering going back to the nursing home full-time but then I feel like the door will be closed to advancing in the future (my goal is to be a nurse practitioner, which requires bedside nursing experience). I also just really like the hospital environment. There is a lot of excitement and I feel it is very rewarding to help my patients recover from their ailments. I just despise the constant rules and policies that come with hospital nursing. I know it is every hospital that has these policies because I have worked in a completely different hospital as a CNA during nursing school and they had the same shit. It is a hospital thing because they're constantly paranoid about inspectors.
I guess I just am asking for advice on what I should do. I've been at this place for a little over a month. I am due for my signing bonus in May. The catch with the signing bonus is I have to stay there for two years once I accept it. If I leave before the two year mark, then I'd have to pay it back. I recently bought a new car and the signing bonus would pay off that loan. Another thing is I was referred to this job by a classmate/good friend. She gets a bonus if I stay for 6 months and I don't want to deprive her of that. Do you suggest I stick it out for the two years for the experience or should I leave and go back to the nursing home? I appreciate all your advice!!

I just found out that my work insurance will cover a portion of the cost of a breast pump as long as I have a prescription from a doctor or nurse practitioner (which shouldn't be an issue).
Does anyone know how that works or been through this process? I was looking at the Medela Freestyle Handsfree on Amazon, but I assume you can't use a prescription to purchase from Amazon? Or can you? Or does the doctor have to write the model on the prescription and will I have to purchase from a pharmacy or something?

I'd make an appointment and increasingly the wait times were increasing. It used to only take a few days to see her until last year when it would take weeks and that was for virtual care no less.
I'm not talking about major things like cancer etc but the more routine things that require intervention by a specialist for tests that can't be done in a general practitioner's office.
Surely this could be handled by qualified nurse practitioners.
I know the patriarchal doctory people will never allow this and Doug the Thug would never pay for it but considering how fucked we are now without access why the hell not.

Next morning I go to urgent care because my stomach was hurting, and wanted to make sure It wasn't food poisoning. They gave me fluids and said it was gastroenteritis.
2 days later, I had my first heartburn ever. 2 days after that, I went in because the pain was a ton, even without the burning feeling. ER said it was GERD this time.
Scheduled an appointment with a nurse practitioner, since my doc wasn't available. She put me on 20mg of omeprazole.
Follow up with my actual doc and he agreed to stay on omeprazole.
It's been about 10 days on it, but seemingly everything now is giving me heartburn. I also still have pain right below the ribcage

For context my official diagnoses is psychotic depression, ADHD, and anxiety disorder not otherwise specified. I was diagnosed last year at the hospital and puts on meds that (mostly) stabilized me and made me feel almost completely back to normal. I'm writing this feeling super out of it and my eyes feel weird (not sure if they're dry or what but I noticed a weird feeling in my eyes often occurs when my mental health is poor). A few weeks ago I was pretty stable. I have OCD-like based around breathing and blinking. I was on 25 mg Zoloft and 80 mg Latuda (and 25 mg Seroquel and 50 mg hydroxyzine as needed for psychotic depression). I asked to raise my dose of Zoloft to see if that could help with the OCD-like breathing and blinking stuff. Since then I felt like I opened Pandora's box.
I started to get some mild psychosis symptoms. After a week I put myself back on 25 mg. I then brought this up at an appointment and my prescriber (nurse practitioner but I call her my psychiatrist) pulled me off Zoloft completely. We then added 50 mg of Seroquel a night. It hasn't made much of an improvement. I've experienced one delusion that I wasn't alone at my house but my symptoms are mostly feeling super out of it (I describe it as feeling like my emotions are mixed up along with dissociation). It's an extremely distressing symptom to me.
I honestly have no idea what to do and I'm really scared. I have a Psyciatrist appointment tomorrow and I feel hopeless that anything will get better after it. I've had to take the work week off this week because I just can't focus. I've gone back and forth on the idea of going back to the hospital. I decided against it this morning because I'm scared they'll try to put me in long term treatment after my visit. Last time they signed me up for a program for a 9-3 outpatient program (which I couldn't go to because I don't drive, I have to work during that time, and the cost of an Uber for that would be probably in the thousands by the time I was done).
I plan on moving in with my partner in Florida but this has paused the move. I'm scared that if I go to the hospital I'll be court ordered to be put in a program or long term care facility.

I plan on moving in with my partner in Florida but this has paused the move. I'm scared that if I go to the hospital I'll be court ordered to be put in a program or long term care facility.

Had my first appointment with a psychiatrist (Nurse Practitioner, anyway) who spent some time asking me questions and looking at my questionnaires.
Before we began the ADHD questions she let me know that anxiety and ADHD share a lot of symptoms and my answers showed “mild” anxiety, so there was chance I could actually have anxiety.
So I answer all of the questions and I’m pretty sure I answer yes to all of the ‘inattentive’ and no to most or all of the ‘hyperactive’
She says that I do seem to be struggling with attention, but ADHD is typically a pediatric diagnosis and people with ADHD are not typically successful in school or at work.

So she prescribed 150mg Wellbutrin (which I hadn’t heard of before) because she said that it could help with my attention and anxiety which I really don’t feel like I have. Merriman cites some dollar figures and the number of workers coming in (the provincial auditor has ruled that these are not enough positions). He passes this all as success. Mowatt calls his answer shameful, nothing to cover family doctors, no new supports for costs, team based care, or problems with the current model, and accuses them of giving up. Merriman says that they are looking at future solutions. Mowatt says that doctors have told her the new doctor compensation doesn’t work, and doctors are leaving the province as a result. Merriman says he rejects the question, while the NDP heckled, I couldn’t make out what they said, he says the NDP is running down health care workers (which is clearly not true) if you listen to the entire exchange.

Quotes president of Sask Schoolboard Association who call this budget falling short, investment that is needed, doesn’t even cover their inflationary expenses. Quotes Sask Teachers Federation president.
Duncan cites the numbers in the budget, defends it, compares it to $1.94B more than the NDP earmarked, then accuses the NDP of being against the education workers.

Says the province is citing a huge surplus, asks why the province didn’t decrease taxes on the people in the province. Accuses the province of taking credit for the surplus, but it’s from increased taxes and resource prices. She says they are profiting on the plight of the people, and calls for them to even reduce the PST 1%.
Harpauer cites natural resources being high right now and volatile. She then says that she is copying the NDP cut and pasting their talking points. She then says that she doesn’t know what to say, then says it’s an indication of a strong and resilient economy. I don’t understand the position, her two ideas seem to conflict.

Attacks that they threw in the towel on equalisation, and calls it a fight that shouldn’t be let down.
Talks about internet access in rural and remote areas asking them to make it a priority and scrap the increasing dividend from Sasktel.
Cites producers being left out of proper compensation rights. Mentions that they delayed despite the NDP and federal government pushing.
Beef herds are in decline and products are being imported while families are losing herds that have generational lineage.
Calls for investigations into meat plants and their anti competitive practices.
Calls for work on the carbon tax to stop the burden on agriculture, and the NDP wants them to exempt grain drying and compensation for being stuarts of the land.
Ends in thanking the people and the workers of the wonderful province, and encourages everyone to work towards a bright future, and being squandered by the government.

Lori Carr (SaskParty) calls for point of order 11:13:26. Says that Wotherspon referred to the minister of trade and export development the minister of jobs. Wotherspoon stands up, says he’s perplexed but apologises.

Talks about smugness in the house when talking about important issues in our community, and even towards guests that were in the room. She says people are noticing and they need to do better. She cites conversation with people in her riding worried about loosing their homes, and there’s no relief from the province in sight. Talks about hospitals being closed, some on bypass with only a note on the door that it’s closed, a baby being born on the side of the highway. And no real meaningful plan. She says that their constituents are calling the NDP offices as well, so she doesn’t know how they can continue with 32 new taxes and fees.
Premier has worst jobs record in the country, he’s flush with cash from potash and oil prices due to the war, and still no relief. 20% of Sask kids are living in poverty, and they have pet projects like the Sask Marshalls, Sask Revenue Agency and the finance minister fires up the jet to go for lunch.
Cites the health system near collapse, and the auditor has told them they are 1000 workers short, and they call it the most ambitious plan in the country in a display of arrogance.
Calls for health care support. The doctors are being forced to be business owners when they just want to provide care. The nurse practitioners asked for a ‘grow your own’ to let them work in the area that they live in, the government won’t address them. Said that the Regina General being closed was referred to as business as usual, ebbs and flows of the service while ignore solutions being provided by health care providers.
She talks about meeting requests like the one in Delisle where the providers asked them to all come, but the saskparty doesn’t show up and listen. Instead he says he meets people on the way home that he talks to (this is true, it happened several times this month in fact.)
Cites headlines about investment into mental health and addictions while those issues soar in our province without significant targeted investment or speaking to the professionals.
Socials services benefits haven’t increase in 8 years, and now they’re given a dollar a day. The Saskparty heckled her at this point. She cites it’s offloading the costs to municipalities and creating more homelessness and claw back benefits.
Says we have the worst job record in the country, but the Saskparty brags about those numbers. Their economy ranked last with a GDP shrinkage (we were the only province that experienced that, citations in earlier synopsis;) And being made worse by putting PST on construction.

Schools are organising bottle drives to continue, and the increases don’t even meet their previous needs let alone inflation. The Saskparty heckled this.

Goes on to cite all the massive 10%+ increases in those areas, oil and gas potash, etc. and how their 9 trade offices (the ones Harper runs globally) are bringing more revenue. He says that teh biggest threat is environmental policies from the federal gov that the NDP are backing (they aren’t… they said that several times in this sitting alone).
Goes on to talk about socialism, protectionism, a bunch of arguments that aren’t even valid. I won’t waste my time synopsis of the rest of this speech, look it up if you care to hear what he says.

Talks about paying down deficit, the pandemic cost us $1B he says even after a generational drought which he calls sustainable investments. He claims second lowest debt to gdp in the nation. He praises the budget and keeps calling it sustainable - he doesn’t want to fire nurses and doctors because of resource revenue fluctuations. Goes on to say that he’s bringing in 1000 physicians etc etc.. these are all future state items that I can’t fact check. He relates a lot of these items against 2007 when the NDP was in power. Goes on to justify the pet projects lie the Marshall Service. I stopped recording it all because he isn’t providing data, he’s just making claims without citation of any kind, and most it things they are doing in the future.

Cites a recent poll that 55% of Saskatchewan people are worse off this year than last, asks how the premier can fail to deliver any relief to struggling families. Has a $2B windfall and only gave tax increases, citing PST increases and the expansion on where it’s charged.
Moe says he is proud of the budget, and it resembles growth “that works for everyone”. (He cites increases in funding, but they’re all near or under inflation, I didn’t fact check any, but at those numbers they can’t be increases). One of the items he is proud of is the $1 a day increase for SAID recipients. He then attacks the NDP for a 9% PST.

Wotherspoon says that families and small business are struggling with a once in a generation crisis, and the government is doing nothing but tax and rate hikes. Morgan calls the NDP irresponsible, has no credibility, and is standing with their leaders Jagmeet and Trudeau who are tripling the carbon tax.
Wotherspoon mentions again that he is criticising the federal government, and again calls for PST hike rollbacks. Harpauer claims we are the cheapest province to live in and defends the budget saying that they have increased in many areas where the increase doesn’t meet the cost of inflation.
\Note: Jagmeet and Trudeau are in fact not the bosses of the provincial NDP. The carbon tax rebate increases with the cost.*

Vicki Mowatt (NDP) vs Paul Merriman (SaskParty)
Mowatt says that hospitals are near collapse, cites SUN president in regards to the issues, and asks Merriman to address. Merriman cites some dollar figures and the number of workers coming in (the provincial auditor has ruled that these are not enough positions). He passes this all as success. Mowatt calls his answer shameful, nothing to cover family doctors, no new supports for costs, team based care, or problems with the current model, and accuses them of giving up. Merriman says that they are looking at future solutions. Mowatt says that doctors have told her the new doctor compensation doesn’t work, and doctors are leaving the province as a result. Merriman says he rejects the question, while the NDP heckled, I couldn’t make out what they said, he says the NDP is running down health care workers (which is clearly not true) if you listen to the entire exchange.

Quotes president of Sask Schoolboard Association who call this budget falling short, investment that is needed, doesn’t even cover their inflationary expenses. Quotes Sask Teachers Federation president.
Duncan cites the numbers in the budget, defends it, compares it to $1.94B more than the NDP earmarked, then accuses the NDP of being against the education workers.

Tax Rates and Provincial Budget
Nadine Wilson (Independant) vs Donna Harpauer
Says the province is citing a huge surplus, asks why the province didn’t decrease taxes on the people in the province. Accuses the province of taking credit for the surplus, but it’s from increased taxes and resource prices. She says they are profiting on the plight of the people, and calls for them to even reduce the PST 1%.
Harpauer cites natural resources being high right now and volatile. She then says that she is copying the NDP cut and pasting their talking points. She then says that she doesn’t know what to say, then says it’s an indication of a strong and resilient economy. I don’t understand the position, her two ideas seem to conflict.

Wothespoon calls the budget out of touch, a government flush with cash who isn’t helping the challenges that people and business are facing. Goes on to call them disrespectful to the health care sector, doctors, teachers, education.
Cites closed hospitals, long wait times in ERs, people can’t get family doctors, addictions problems.
Attacks that they threw in the towel on equalisation, and calls it a fight that shouldn’t be let down.
Talks about internet access in rural and remote areas asking them to make it a priority and scrap the increasing dividend from Sasktel.
Cites producers being left out of proper compensation rights. Mentions that they delayed despite the NDP and federal government pushing.
Beef herds are in decline and products are being imported while families are losing herds that have generational lineage.
Calls for investigations into meat plants and their anti competitive practices.
Calls for work on the carbon tax to stop the burden on agriculture, and the NDP wants them to exempt grain drying and compensation for being stuarts of the land.
Ends in thanking the people and the workers of the wonderful province, and encourages everyone to work towards a bright future, and being squandered by the government.
Reverts to the previous complaint about the use of boneheaded, and agrees to retract it, and replace with the following: does not approve the budgetary policy of the government because it fails to provide cost-of-living relief for families, fails to make needed investments in health care and education; and further, that the Assembly has lost confidence in the government.
Lori Carr (SaskParty) calls for point of order 11:13:26. Says that Wotherspon referred to the minister of trade and export development the minister of jobs. Wotherspoon stands up, says he’s perplexed but apologises.
Vicki Mowatt (NDP)
Talks about smugness in the house when talking about important issues in our community, and even towards guests that were in the room. She says people are noticing and they need to do better. She cites conversation with people in her riding worried about loosing their homes, and there’s no relief from the province in sight. Talks about hospitals being closed, some on bypass with only a note on the door that it’s closed, a baby being born on the side of the highway. And no real meaningful plan. She says that their constituents are calling the NDP offices as well, so she doesn’t know how they can continue with 32 new taxes and fees.
Premier has worst jobs record in the country, he’s flush with cash from potash and oil prices due to the war, and still no relief. 20% of Sask kids are living in poverty, and they have pet projects like the Sask Marshalls, Sask Revenue Agency and the finance minister fires up the jet to go for lunch.
Cites the health system near collapse, and the auditor has told them they are 1000 workers short, and they call it the most ambitious plan in the country in a display of arrogance.
Calls for health care support. The doctors are being forced to be business owners when they just want to provide care. The nurse practitioners asked for a ‘grow your own’ to let them work in the area that they live in, the government won’t address them. Said that the Regina General being closed was referred to as business as usual, ebbs and flows of the service while ignore solutions being provided by health care providers.
She talks about meeting requests like the one in Delisle where the providers asked them to all come, but the saskparty doesn’t show up and listen. Instead he says he meets people on the way home that he talks to (this is true, it happened several times this month in fact.)
Cites headlines about investment into mental health and addictions while those issues soar in our province without significant targeted investment or speaking to the professionals.
Socials services benefits haven’t increase in 8 years, and now they’re given a dollar a day. The Saskparty heckled her at this point. She cites it’s offloading the costs to municipalities and creating more homelessness and claw back benefits.
Says we have the worst job record in the country, but the Saskparty brags about those numbers. Their economy ranked last with a GDP shrinkage (we were the only province that experienced that, citations in earlier synopsis;) And being made worse by putting PST on construction.

Schools are organising bottle drives to continue, and the increases don’t even meet their previous needs let alone inflation. The Saskparty heckled this.

He praises the budget and keeps calling it sustainable - he doesn’t want to fire nurses and doctors because of resource revenue fluctuations. Goes on to say that he’s bringing in 1000 physicians etc etc.. these are all future state items that I can’t fact check. He relates a lot of these items against 2007 when the NDP was in power. Goes on to justify the pet projects lie the Marshall Service. I am currently taking a leave of absence from college because I realized I do not have the skillset for cybersecurity yet. The pandemic incentivized bad habits for me and I just went to school for the sake of trying to complete it. This meant memorizing what I learned without truly understanding it. I realized my mistakes and I have since taken a leave of absence. I realized I still have an interest in IT and I would love some advice on how to get my first job and prepare for my career ahead of me for years to come.
I have transferred from a community college to my university in 2019. I had enough units to transfer, but not enough to get an associates degree. Forward to today, I took a leave of absence and I have to market myself despite the fact I still do not have a degree. Over this month, I managed to get my Amazon Web Services Certified Cloud Practitioner certification and I finished all 5 of the classes under the Google IT Support Professional certification. I am currently working towards my CompTIA A+ certification and expect to get it in mid April. I'm also applying to jobs in the meantime and networking.
I have no experience and I am currently getting my resume together. How should I list my current certifications? Should they fall under Education or Certifications? I also reside in California, where my cost of living is higher. I have some wage/salary expectations that would be in the $35,000-40,000 range. Am I selling myself short here? Is this a reasonable range to have for a first job in IT? If anything, this leave of absence has taught me that I still have a passion for IT and want to have a career in it. I also have a family to support and we are going through a rough financial situation. I figured I could kill two birds in one stone by getting an IT job. How do I market myself when I took a leave of absence and that I will be returning to college and graduating in 2025? For those against this way, there has been a clear evidence that students who haven't had much experience, that is to say who are not wise enough, show worse performance at their full-time job. A friend of mine is prime example, he did not prefer taking a part time activity thinking that it would be useless and not the best option to manage his time. Eventually, he ended up having difficulties with the first, already full-time, occupation and not being sure about satisfaction itself.
To conclude, avoiding apprenticeship is an unquestionable mistake because post graduates would be less exposed to a real experience. Also abandoning this idea would not let them think about the realm they may be interested in.

It’s a long day in kindergarten, ya know? But today I have this BS IEP that will go until I walk out at contract hours. Maybe stop by for breakfast, unless Johnny wipes blood on the bus driver’s neck again.”
I am the face of mental health services in your schools. If society is sincere about providing legitimate mental health care, then hire 5 more of me at a competitive salary. Or stop pretending for the cameras every time kids get shot.
