so i didn’t get a seat at my dream college. I kept no other options as backup and now It’s just so messed up. i have to take a drop and study again. i am not ready for taking a drop just thinking about it makes me want to cry. my home is so toxic i just wanted to move out asap but now i can’t.
i dont know how will i survive 1 fucking year watching all my classmates move out of the city and enjoy there life and i will be just stuck here at home. I have no friends here life just sucks. upar se 1 saal ghar walo ke tanne rishetedaro ki baate sunni padegi idk what the heck should i do with my life.
Everyone is gonna make fun of me. I thought i just to wait till my 12th get over then i will move out and have my freedom( my parents dont let me go out of the house) but here goes one more depressing miserable year :)

- genetic history of diabetes (mom diagnosed at 42, on insulin since 60yo), hypertension. I am pre-diabetic (a1c 5.8); on Metformin 1000mg/day, Lisinopril 5mg/day (hypertension)
- genetic history of heart disease (dad quad bypass at 42, passed at 62)
- LDL-C (NIH) = 125 (prev reading high 170 after i started low carb, now back to my long-term)
- HDL = 35
- Trig = 160
- Lp(a) = 44
- Recent CAC = 0
- Next step: ApoB, then talk to cardiologist about statin
- No genetic history of cancer, colonoscopy scheduled later this year
- No genetic history of neurodegenerative
- Exercise: Averaging 2 strength training / week, 1 zone 2; aiming to go up to 3 strength, and 2 aerobic (mix of zone 2,5) over next few months. This is my current primary focus on the levers.
- Nutrition: Got a CGM July 2022 and used it to go low carb and train myself to eat better. Lost 15lbs, my Trig fell from 300 to 160. Continuing low-carb. No fasting regimen currently. Take a multivitamin and Omega-3 daily.
- Z (sleep): Average about 7 hours, withings scanwatch consistently reports poor depth of sleep. Wear a prescription mouthguard for sleep apnea. Next step - try CPAP (have it already just haven't been using it). Use 1/2 Advil PM, and 1 Magtein (Magnesium L-threonate) daily.
- Emotions: In a good place. At some point will focus on this to get my meditation practice restarted.
- Drugs: Noted in right places above already. Not really focused on this currently except need to decide re statin as noted above.
- Find a PCP - a continuing journey. Am with One Medical. I tried Wild Health but didn't continue. Currently considering Parsley Health and Five Journeys (a Boston holistic health group of PCPs).
- Figure out how can self-order and do blood tests - want to track my bio markers at higher frequency.

I (F30) have multiple children but this "issue" centers around my 9yr old daughter.
She has been watching youtube videos (supervised, obviously) for a little over a year now. This started off with slime and challenge videos and now has evolved in to a more family-vloggers orientated preference.
I wasn't happy about that as I personally feel like people vlogging and very publicly sharing every second of every day of their kids personal lifes are dispicable and taking advantage of their child(ren). Obviously i'm talking about the content that goes way beyond sharing a cute photo or video with friends and family.
Now, despite the fact that I wasn't happy about it I didn't stop her from watching this. It isn't violent or sexual in nature and I figured I could take this opportunity to provide some education towards the repercussions of what you share online and how to responsibly analyse and consume content.
This has gone decently well, obviously she's only 9 so she can't quite grasp everything involved fully yet.
Now, over the last couple of months she has been pretending to be a vlogger, walking around with an old phone, talking to an audience she doesn't have and sharing her day to day life. As this was "pretend" I kept half an eye on it as it was happening but mostly just let her play.
Now, she has learned that one of her classmates (also F9) was allowed an account on tiktok and has been allowed to make content of her own (mostly dance-videos and copying make up tutorials from what i've gathered) and she has decided she also wants to have a tiktok-account.
I said no, explained why and she had an absolute meltdown. In typical preteen fashion she accused me of "not understanding", "ruining her life" and "holding her back because i'm too old to understand that's how things are now." I, again, told her that until she was old enough to fully understand tge possible repercussions of what you put online and grasp the variety of dangers the internet hosts she would not be allowed on any social media.
She stated that "other parents make content of their kids" and that it's obviously fine if other people do so, as those kids are okay and safe so why wouldn't she be.
I always try to have conversations and try to explain my reasoning in stead of being the "because I said so" type of parent and in doing so the discussion escalated to the point where i'm wondering if I, for now at least, should be barring family and childvlogging from my home, until she has the capacity to be more critical and look at this with the appropriate context.
I am also aware that this is my personal opinion and that many people will disagree with me, including my daughter. I encourage them to form their own opinions and obviously we're bound to disagree on some things, and that's okay.
That being said; the internet truly is a dangerous place and I wouldn't allow my child near a drughouse to be able to form her own opinion on drugs, so maybe I should not allow her on the internet in the capacity she wants quite yet and in the process bar or limit the content that encourages to do so.
But on the other other hand, banning something only makes it more attractive.
As you can probably tell I have been debating myself on this for a solid amount of hours by now and I truly do not know how to proceed.
So here I am, wondering how other people/parents view this and how they handle it. I would also like to know if my view on this is truly outdates or if i'm ill informed. What do you guys think?

I have been riding for a years, and would love to build a chopper. I’ve been around bikes for a little while, and I’ve done some work on my bike, but I am definitely no mechanic. I would love to build a Harley, but I want to learn more about engines and how the parts work together before I start buying parts.
I want to build this over time, so there’s no immediate rush to buy and build things yet. There is a good fabrication company near me that can do the more serious welding that I don’t trust myself to do (like frame welding).

Having watched a bunch of recordings of Respite performed live, I feel like the lack of that little James Hetfield-esque vocal flourish really hurts the song! “Now the streetwalking deadAAAAAAAH”. The song is quite ballady, and that little vocal bit added a bit of much-needed meanness to the song, for me. Especially with its subject matter. The wizard of oz line, ‘sliced and diced our dreams to pieces, ‘murderous crafter’ (conjures images of an old lady serial killer doing arts and crafts). The song has a healthy helping of cheese. I really hope he adds that extra oomph to future live performances of it.

I made a post earlier how I wasn't on board with Nick's new content as thought it wasn't as good and he wasn't being the same energy. But after watching more of his new stuff my opinion has actually changed. I really do prefer his new content over his old. Before I was drama-hungry and I always wanted to watch people dunking on people and making fun of them but after a while with watching people like Ethanisonline and Nickisnotgreen I realised that the drama and commentary videos were actually making my mood worse and mental health worse as I was always angry at the losers they made fun of as well, it was actually making me a more negative and cynical person. But watching Nick's new content it feels so much more positive and fun, it's like we are just chilling and going along for the ride while Nick is doing what makes him happy. I feel like has better vibes in his new videos and I'm able to just sit back and enjoy as oppose to get angry at losers.

I lost my daughter April at 38 weeks, 1 April 2022. As I’m sure you’re all personally familiar with, this has left me with very conflicted feelings towards pregnant woman and new parents in general. I have felt so much disgust, jealousy and anger towards most pregnant women I’ve laid my eyes on. Not something I’m proud of, but I know it’s not uncommon.
Now that I’m becoming visibly pregnant with my son I feel awful that I could be responsible for other people going through loss and infertility feeling these same things. I’m finding myself hiding my guys and trying to make it less noticeable.
I know that PAL is rife with many complex emotions which most cannot fathom, but now that I’m aware of this life after losing my daughter, I just want to be as sensitive to other’s feelings as possible. How have you guys dealt with this? This pregnancy has obviously not been easy so far, but I’m struggling with this feeling of just complete shame.

I’m 19 and all my interactions with people feel unfulfilling. I usually rely on the other person to bring up interesting topics to discuss, because no matter how hard i try i just cannot think of what to say beyond asking them about their day or simple small talk. I find it difficult to talk about myself and I have been called boring by my friends before.
I feel it much more now with my boyfriend because he is a very curious person and always has so many interesting thoughts and things to say that I would have never been able to think of. I really enjoy listening to him and i do ask questions and engage, but I feel insufficient because I cannot contribute in the same way. I rely on him to start all our conversation. Even if we watch a movie together, he will have interesting thoughts about it, but I struggle to notice things beyond the surface level.
I think this has always been a problem. I remember learning things at school but never having questions for teachers, and struggling to think of what to say to people. The root of this is that I’m not curious enough and I probably don’t do any intellectually stimulating activities besides school work and social media. I feel like I have no original opinions and when I try to contribute towards conversation with my boyfriend, it always feels like I’m repeating other people’s ideas. I cannot usually answer deeper follow up questions he has because I never thought to find out more in the first place. My head is usually empty and I feel like I barely think. I don’t have shower thoughts, or deep thoughts in general, beyond the basic noting my environment.
How do I train myself to be more curious and think deeper thoughts?
