The level of entitlement displayed here is just appalling sometimes.
People calling all landlords scum and wishing bad things on them seems to be echoed a lot in this chamber of entitlement.
Housing is NOT a necessity that the world owes you. It’s a privilege you work for. Just like every single person in the history of humans before you. In fact, the world doesn’t OWE you a single thing. You are responsible for your self.
Did some generations have it easier? YUP. They were able to get by on 40 hours a week and buy houses. That was the then. This is now.
Some generations also had to literally build their homes to survive. No one did it for them. So why do people bow, EXPECT the world to provide them affordable housing without putting in the work?
Because you just don’t WANT to?!? Holy fuck. The level of entitlement that it takes to come to this conclusion and believe that you simply shouldn’t have to do things you don’t want to is beyond sickening.
I know times have gotten tough. But it’s been WAY worse in the past and you are by far, the SOFTEST fucking generation of people ever.
I hope you re-think your life when you say things like “all landlords are scum” because some of them are just regular people trying to make their way through life and assholes like you entitled shmucks are making it hell for them.

Good morning all or night!

 So I live in FL and my ac unit kicked the bucket. It’s been 80 + degrees and the house has been pretty hot. My questions is about my oils. Most (olive, coconut, avocado oil) say store at room temperature and my oat oil says to avoid heat so I’m going to replace this one for sure. Do you think it’s still safe to use the other oils if they look and still smell normal or should I buy new oils?

Hey guys, we are trying to replace our very dated bathroom accessories (toilet roll holder, shower shelf, towel rail, hand towel holder) in our ensuite in our new house - but we are having real trouble locating replacement accessories where the screw holes match up with the old holes in the tiles. We were expecting that the screw hole placement would be fairly standard - but can’t find any the match (and most products don’t seem to list their screw distances). An issue is that lots of the existing fittings had 2 screws attaching each side - and the screw holes are 25mm apart. All the other ones we have bought - the screws only seem to be 15mm apart. Any suggestions for finding accessories that will fit? We are just looking for modern silver rails/holders. Thanks.

The only "friend" I have constantly belittle me and asks me to buy him things because "you're such a good friend". One girl at work constantly makes me feel like shit by actively avoiding me and looking at me with what I can describe and a hateful disgust even though I've never talked to her outside of anything necessary.
My grandmother is emotionally abusive and addresses everyone by insulting them or calling them the N word, my brother is a leech and my sister hates me. The only person to ever really seem to care about me is my boss and referred me to the Company's mental health services, whether that was truly him caring or just him not wanting to lose an employee I don't know.
I work at a dead end job making 18.30 an hour with no raises to speak of, I'll own a house and land in a few years but I don't think I'll be around then. I've already started destroying personal items and writing up who will get my possession. I'm a failure in life and I've done terrible things, I used to beat my childhood dog and killed several cats by throwing them down a set of stairs when I was about 2.
When that dog died it broke me and permanently took a piece of me, all I think of when he comes to mind is how horrible I was and how I left him to seek comfort for myself when he was dying instead of being with him in his final moments. I deserve nothing in life and I have nothing, so I plan on killing myself when my current dog dies. He lives an extremely pampered life including commonly eating ice cream and baby food. When this will be Idk but I don't think anyone will care and will only be eager to get their hands on my most expensive possessions.

I have to move so unfortunately I have to get rid of my lovely kitchen with integrated appliances that I bought from the previous hauptmieter. I know that in the US there are charities like Habitats for Humanity and Renovation Angels that will come and do the demo for you in exchange for keeping the materials. Is there any charity that will do that in Berlin?
Alternatively, how feasible would it be to sell the whole kitchen including the appliances? I see a bunch of listings on Facebook. Does the buyer pay for the cost of uninstalling and transporting everything? Or is the seller meant to have everything ready for the truck?
Another alternative? Because the housing company are "renovating", I have heard they are limited in what they can take from the deposit so I don't need to worry about painting walls to their original colour etc. Does this mean I could in theory leave the kitchen installation and just sell the integrated appliances without being charged?

Hi everyone, I’ve been dating my BF (24M) for 4 years. In the beginning of our relationship his sister basically wreaked havoc on me/us. I will give a brief point form of some of the things she has done:
-Tried to bring his ex out on the boat with us, tried to convince me it was totally reasonable, basically gaslight me into thinking I was being immature for finally saying no
-Wanted to come with BF and I every time we left the house or did anything, would pout if we didn’t take her
-Made tons of “jokes” about me “replacing her” would say “you’re stealing my seat” (bf’s passenger seat)
-Generally shitty person things ex. Talking about other people’s bodies in a negative way, saying she’s the hottest person in the room
-Basically acting like my BFs body guard, would be visibly livid at me if BF and I got in a little argument even if he was clearly in the wrong ex. He got too drunk one night and I was annoyed and she was mad at ME. ex. He was beginning to get too drunk another time and she pulled me away and encouraged me to leave him alone. Want to add that we were a lot younger at the time and drank a lot more back then lol
The crazy thing is is her behaviour was all one-sided, my BF and her weren’t even close bonded but she basically has no friends so she would tag along with him before I came into the picture and did not back off a bit when I did. Another unfortunate fact is that I never actually outrightly told her she was being inappropriate/crossing boundaries because I didn’t feel I had the “right” to say anything especially because the relationship was newer at the time. There was a lot of tension at the time but no communication on either end.
She backed off a lot once she got a BF and moved in with him. (1 year into our relationship roughly) For a long time I couldn’t stand her and didn’t want her around us. She would text us almost every weekend to try and join in (with her bf) on whatever we were up to and I’ll admit I blew her off a lot.
Presently, my BF and I have our own house and she was living with her BF up until about a month ago, they broke up. In the past couple years things have been much better between her and I because we don’t spend much time with her which I’ll admit I love. Now I feel like she’s trying to sneak back in and tag along with us. Tonight she wants to come with us to a friends party and although I don’t flat out dislike her, I’d rather spend time with my friends without her there. She’s very persistent though and basically won’t take no for an answer. BF is semi neutral and always kind of has been. It took him a while to understand her behaviour was so unhinged. He is a people pleaser and peace keeper so it’s very hard for him to set boundaries. I don’t want my whole summer to be compromised because she wants to tag along. What on earth do I do. I feel like I can’t bring up the past things she did now, it’s been a long time, and she doesn’t communicate well. I don’t love her as a person and feel stuck and worried she’s going to try and spend every weekend with us. I feel like I need a therapy session just to talk about all this and what steps to take next. Thanks for reading

i’m 16 and i start my apprenticeship in a few weeks. in the uk you can’t start driving until you’re 17, and my workplace is fairly far from home and i’m struggling to find a way back from home. coincidentally, my mom works there, so she’s able to give me a lift to work in a morning, however she’s refusing to give me a lift home. i finish at 5:30pm, and by then she’s already in her pyjamas and won’t leave the house, that’s always been her routine. i don’t ask a lot from her, but she’s refusing to give me a lift home and i can’t see why. she’d only be out of the house for 25 minutes at most, ive offered to give her petrol money but she’s still saying no. i don’t want to get the bus home like she’s telling me to, because the bus route takes so long and i wouldn’t be getting home until 7pm at least. ive tried asking my dad but he hasn’t really given me an answer, i don’t feel like i’m asking a lot from my mom, and i know she’s not obligated to give me a lift home, but it would help me so much just until i can drive next year, what do i do!!??

I broke up with my emotional abusive ex and moved out of our shared apartment last year.
He still owed me money and had some things that belonged to me. We texted about it last week but he stopped replying.
Yesterday me and my boyfriend (M29) where watching a movie together over facetime. I told him I didn’t get an answer from my ex yet, and that I‘d like to call him and ask about my money and belongings. My boyfriend agreed but asked if he could stay on Facetime and listen, I told him no.
I called my ex and we agreed that he‘d dropp off my stuff at our mutual friend‘s house.
He asked about the dog (edit: it was "our" dog before the breakup) and I told him that she‘s doing fine, that she was attacked by an off leash dog but no major injuries and that we‘re seeing a dog trainer and so on. He then asked if I was seeing anyone and I told him that I‘m in a happy relationship, he asked a little bit about my boyfriend. I told him that leaving him was the best decision I ever made, that I am lucky to be in a healthy relationship and that I‘m overall doing good.
He told me, he was seeing someone and that he also agreed, tho we had good times, we just didn’t match and we would have destroyed each other if we didn’t went our separate ways. I told him that I hope he won’t repeat the mistakes he made in the past and that he’s happy with his new girlfriend.
In no means do I intent to keep in contact or maintain a friendship. It still felt good to end it once and for all, in good terms. The conversation felt kind of therapeutic, if that makes sense.
The call went on for about an hour and when I hung up my boyriend had send me a message, saying he‘s been waiting, he is pissed.
I told him that I would like to tell him about the conversation, so he called, listened and freaked out.
He was angry that I talked to my ex like he was a friend, that I told him about my relationship and my boyfriend and that I gave him relationship advice, by saying I hope he‘s treating his new girl better. He said, he doesn’t know if he could trust me and if he was able to get over it. He also sent a photo of him crying.
My BF said he was heartbroken and is now turning cold, because I made him feel like I don’t love him and that he will need some time to think about it.
He called again because we usually go to sleep together on the phone but he made clear he doesn’t want to talk.
I haven’t heard from him ever since and I‘m not sure what to do.
Should I try and contact him or leave him be? How can I fix this? I he in the right?

I'm so happy to be sober. I was sober for the vast majority of last year and now am on my longest stretch yet (aside from pregnancies) at over 7 months. I don't see any reason whatsoever to go back, I'm amazed at how much happier I am without wine.
That said, I'm in a very visible position at work. I'm a software exec and it feels like every single work event involves a ton of drinking. I feel ridiculous saying this given that I generally am very strong-willed and independent but (because of the shame I feel over my history with drinking) I'm very reluctant to call any attention to the fact that I'm not drinking. I feel that any perception of me as having had an issue would hurt my reputation at work. This leaves me spinning my wheels on what reason to give when I'm at work dinners and I'm offered wine or whatever else. I don't want it, I'm not going to drink it (it's not like I feel the risk of caving) but I just don't know what to say if/when people ask.
I'm on anxiety meds so I could say that I'm on a medication I can't drink with but I also hate having to say something like that (which then begs the question of what medicine I'm on). In January at our sales kick-off I said dry January, on a recent President's Club trip I drank virgin mojitos and I don't think anyone knew, but I have had moments of ordering club soda with lime and seeing looks of surprise. I wish I was at a point where I didn't care at all about this but it causes me a decent amount of anxiety. I don't want to be perceived as having struggled with addiction, I don't want to talk about it. Maybe someday I'll be there but right now I'm not. I feel like I need one quiet line that I can stick to without feeling like I'm lying that I can then move on from. I've recently lost a lot of weight and debate saying it is part of my focus on health but that seems like it is going to lead me into 'just have one glass' given how much pushing of alcohol goes on. Including my boss who seems very pushy on the topic and is fairly new to the company.
Thanks in advance for any advice. I feel very silly struggling with this as much as I am but I also feel like this is a place where I can be real about where I'm at. I'd like to say 'none of your effing business' but I don't see that drawing LESS attention to anything :)

I get dreams of nothingness sometimes where I burst awake at the dead of night and have an inexplicable urge to leave the house and go somewhere. No, not somewhere, just away from where I am as fast as possible. It isn't even an avoidable or shakable feeling, I literally need to get up, leave the house I'm at and go about a block away before I realize what I'm doing. I have to tell myself that I need to go back, that what I'm doing isn't right. I've had it so bad one time that I ran downstairs, threw on a bathrobe over just shorts, ran out into a blizzard and foot of snow over to another building. After making it over there, I just stood in shocked silence for who knows how long before repeating the trek in reverse to my house. I have no idea what it is that makes me do it, but it may have something to do with me being sensitive to spirits. I always have been. It runs in my family. I even have a Guardian. She watches over me, always. She's not always visible and she doesn't make herself known, but when she is and does, it's usually her trying to communicate some silent message of warning to me. These dire feelings of imminent dread urging me to vacate wherever I am may come from her warning me of spiritual danger nearby. That's how I've translated it, at least. Thank you, Guardian. I know I'm not supposed to tell people about you, but I felt it necessary for this comment, on this video's comment section, considering the context.

(Not MIL but my own mum, hope it’s okay to post it here 💗)
I’m hosting a gender reveal next week in my parents‘ garden. I told my mum that she doesn’t have to do anything and I’ll take care of all the food, drinks, decoration etc. I’m a really organised person and my mum is someone who does everything randomly and last minute. Also me and all of my friends enjoy food that is more light and modern, while my mum cooks mostly traditional heavy dishes with lots of oil. We’re doing a summer garden bbq and had agreed that my dad would do the bbqing part. My plan was to buy some light meat such as marinated chicken breast and some grill cheese for barbecuing that my dad will make. And then prepare a few nice summery sides for a buffet such as a mixed salad, a pasta salad with rucola, cherry tomatoes and pine kernels, a couscous salad with lime, spring onion, fresh mint and pomegranate, oven-baked baguettes with herbal butter, a caprese platter, fresh water melon, and some stuff like that. All of my friends love this style of food equally as much as I do.
Now my mum is insisting she also wants to contribute to the buffet which tbh I already suspected because she just never accepts a no. I tried to stay calm and agreeable and told her okay I’m fine with her contributing one thing but that it would be good if she could tell me what it is so that we can plan accordingly and don’t have similar dishes etc. First of all she kept telling me that she doesn’t know and wants to decide spontaneously and that she’ll make a few things. Knowing my mum I was already alarmed and told her it doesn’t work like that and asked her to at least tell me what she wants to make. Turns out she wants to make meatballs. Like, as a side for barbecued meat…!? I told her that this doesn’t really make much sense and asked her why don’t you make your delicious tzatziki dip which goes well with the barbecue. To which she said „yeah I’m making that anyway“. She then announced that she’d also make potatoes in the oven (I know that dish and it’s not like some nice light baby potatoes with rosemary or something but it’s overcooked potato slices swimming in oil) and in addition she’ll also make eggplant-garlic-mash.
I was already getting upset but tried to stay calm and told her that I’m making several things that I know everyone likes and we don’t even have that many bowls nor that much space in the fridge and it will just be a small round of my closest girlfriends and me (9 people) and none of us are heavy eaters. And I asked her again if she can’t just make the tzatziki dip and that’s enough. She got extremely angry and said that she will make whatever she wants in her own house and that she and my dad don’t like this type of food and they want to eat meatballs and potatoes and she will put the stuff on the buffet and she’s sure people will eat it anyway and yadayadayada.
Am I in the wrong for being so annoyed with my mum? I was telling myself to just let it go and let her do her thing cause it doesn’t harm anyone but I find it such a pity to throw away so much food! Also I find it embarrassing to present a buffet for 30 people although we’re just 9 girls, it looks as if we were some gross people who eat whole truckloads all the time. And last but not least this is just not the style I was going for, I wanted everything to be light and summerish.
My mum has always been like that, she can’t let people do things the way they want. She always has to interfere and make everyone’s life difficult.
Any advice? I already told her that this isn’t helping me but adding further stress but she doesn’t care 😭
Hosting somewhere else unfortunately isn’t an option anymore and also I don’t want to cause a huge rift now over this cause my mum is a difficult person anyway.

Starting up a Harry Potter themed 16-team Dynasty Contract league. Here are some of the details:

• 16 Teams, split across 4 Divisions
  • Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff
    • While teams in same division will compete against each other, they will also be working together and competing against other Houses for the House Cup Champion title.
  • League rosters/scoring will be hosted on Fleaflicker.
  • League chat/contract transactions hosted on Discord.
  • League Contracts/Salary Cap tracked on Google Sheet (see link below).
• Each team will have $150,000,000 in Salary Cap space each year.
  • Owners will sign players to multi-year contracts, with the max contract being 5 years.
  • Initial player salaries will be determined by their inaugural draft position.
  • Free agents will be bid on auction style, with the highest value contract winning.
  • Owners will have options to extend contracts or franchise tag players on their team.
• Full IDP Rosters
  • Includes IL (DT), EDR (DE/OLB), LB (ILB), CB, S positions.
  • IDP scoring adjusted to be comparable to OP scoring.
    • OP scoring will be standard PPR, with a TEP (1.5/rec)
• $50 buy-in through Leaguesafe
  • Multiple payouts, including weekly point winners
  • Also includes payout to House Cup Champion at end of the season
